He's not past his prime. It's just his undefeated record is a big thing to lose, therefore he fights more cautious. Sure he was more entertaining back then when he would take more chances. But entertaining fighters are not the best fighters. His hand speed is still fast and his movement is still fast. And of course at lower weights you're speed is going to be faster. Its that way with everyone. And you also have to take into consideration that Floyd takes the least amount of punishment than anyone. So in terms of longevity, I think Floyd still has a good amount left in him.

I don't get all the "Floyd is past his prime" talk

And the I also disagree about Oscar, Floyd didn't look his best compared to his other recent fights. He got the job done but it was a dry and lackluster performance.
All I'm saying is, every fight his skill set is declining, it's evident, he's still got enough to beat anybody out there but he's slowly declining due to age.

he is past his prime
the layoffs he's had recently will cost him
his style revolves around quickness and reflexes
he's missed too much time to still be at his best
he's still good enough to beat almost everybody out there
but he's not in his prime anymore

He doesn't have the same speed and reflexes he had vs. Gatti
He makes up for it by fighting smarter and using his strength more.
No one is saying he's shot or anything.

Mayweather isn't past his prime, people are just hoping he is. He's been able to stand his ground and outbox his recent opponents with ease, and yes time catches up to all of us, but Mayweather has the ring IQ greater then any boxer i've ever seen, and i expect him to be outboxing fighters long after his speed and agility is past what it was.
But right now we really can't make that judgement, punch for punch he's still the fastest fighter in the world today IMHO, not as fast as he was at 130, but moving up in weight does that to a fighter, most of the time.

What people don't realize is that when your a great boxer, then your skill can take you past the point that you physical ability could carry you. B-Hop has been able to do it, and Mayweather will too. May isn't RJJ, he doesn't rely entirely on his speed and agility. Mayweather is a great boxer, & even if he's slowed down a step or two, he's still faster then most and most importantly he's still a better boxer then damn near everybody.
