Prime Roy Jones Jr>>>>>>> Prime Sugar Ray Robinson

You're the cecond person whom I have seen post that Robinson had to cut weight to make 154. You are completely wrong. There was NO 154 division then, and the only times that Robinson was around that weight was when he was either fighting middleweights or welterweights, depending on his training.True, but SRR and RJJ both fought at 154/160.
SRR had to cut weight to make 154 as did Jones. This would've been the time to make the fight.
BTW, Roy fought from 1988 or 1989 - 2004 undeafeated. If his chin was suspect, don't you think James Toney, Hopkins, McCallum, Virgil Hill or someone else would've tested his chin? Or were they all bums?
IMO, Roy fought well past what he should have. After he won the HVWT title, that should've been it.
Also, SRR has also been KO'd if I'm not mistaken? It goes both ways.
In thinkg I DID just notice and ican't understand why I never saw it before, or didn't remember it. When Robinson LOST his middleweight title to Randolph Turpin to make his record 132-2, he had fought a fight in Europe just a week before, and another one just the week before that.
I recall that Robinson went on a "tour" of Europe fighting all their top guys ending up in England with his Turpin fight. I recall that he said that he was keeping in training by fighting and didn't need a camp. Well he paid for it, but of course KO'd Tturpin in the return.Comment

Robinson was never KO'd. In his losing fight against Joey maxim for the Lt. Heavy Title, he was 157, and Maxim came into the ring at 185. After the fight Robinson weighed 146.True, but SRR and RJJ both fought at 154/160.

Robinson had the fight well won until he came out for the 13th swung a punch at Maxim, misees, and collapsed, being carried to his corner. The heat did him in. It was 105 at ringside, and Ruby Goldstein the ref, collapsed from heat prostration, and had to be replaced in the 10th rd. It was after this fight that Robinson retired for nearly 4 years trying to make it as a dancer, with his own show. He made a comeback at about 35, the same age that Mayweather is now, and had some of his best known fights against Fullmer, Basilio, Bobo Olsen. etc.
So whilst is was a "retired" verdict, Robinson was not KO'd. And never was in any other fight.Comment

True, and that's after 200 fights, including those 15 rounds that we don't see anymore, cause it was in those rounds that the most damage was done.Robinson was never KO'd. SRR is all alone in it's class, miles above the rest.Comment

Regarding the heat information, I think you're right. But for some reason, I thought the 1 fight Lamotta won against him, it was by stoppage?Comment

You also have to keep in mind, during Robinson's day, fighters didn't watch video footage of their opponents. In my opinion, this put the elite fighters at an advantage (i.e Robinson and others).
Whereas, during modern times, video footage gives the lower tier opponents an opportunity to study their opponents flaws, thus putting the elite fighters at a disadvantage.Comment
