I enjoy MMA, although not nearly as much as boxing. I did Judo for 3 years and Wrestled for 5. I respect MMA fighters, but still maintain that a world class boxer could take out damn near any of them. Put a skilled counterpuncher in there, and there would be no ground game. With those small gloves, it wouldn't matter how much Jui-Jitsu they know, a knockout is a knockout.

So many of those guys who are so-called "strikers" are so tentative in there to a point where they don't land punches. Still, MMA interests me, as do all combat sports. Boxing is just the best.

Many people are now moving from boxing to MMA. I still feel however that MMA is better to watch for tv then boxing is for watching live.

Donald Trump said it himself, they filled 14,000 people for a ufc event, its getting harder and harder to do this for boxing. John Ruiz vs James Toney only sold 6,000 tickets in MSG. So Trump is definetly liking MMA events more because they fill seats easily in his casinos. I'd say that if they had a pride franchise in the USA as well as in Japan, mma would be more popular. They are trying to market the brand here and I think its on FSN they have the show showing the old Pride fights.

anybody know the story of the ufc, the gracies, and how and why it got started? you should check into it if you don't. i'll just say, it makes the gracies look less respectable.

Yea, I was watching that earlier. Pride fighting is fast paced and has 10 minute rounds. Pretty cool. Good to see Ken Shamrock in there kicking ass again.

Pride is on right now. But whose watching Pride fighting at 3:34 in the afternoon on Fox Sports?

PS: Fox Sports has bad reception here. comes in hazy.

The Gracies are going to be invading the UFC again, or so I'm told. Can't wait for that.

I never really liked the gracies, I enjoy fighters that are a mix and not just ground fighters. I also noticed that the ground fighting in the UFC is much harder than it is in Pride because of the cage and there are no restarts to the center of the ring if they go under the ropes.
