Interestingly those are regarded as his most competitive.

Of all the fighters ever in the sport, I could say Roy Jones is the most criticized fighter of all time..."he didn't fight joey choo choo", "james toney was fat when they fought", "he has no defense", "he was exposed by tarver." My goodness, everyone's analyzing him too much.

Exactly, I can remember in the early 90's when he hit this one fighter with one of the most devasting body punches I have ever seen, it sounded like a ******* blast and had the man rolling on the canvas like a kid...

Gatti lays it out, plain and simple, for all the Roy Jones fans. Gotta love it.

          "On Roy Jones

He got exposed when he lost to Tarver the first time. He never fought any opponents who wanted to beat him, everybody was afraid of him. For the first time Roy Jones showed his weakness and he can’t mix it up. He just tried to survive that fight, and he did…."

Right on the money, Gatti. I'm glad Gatti said this because he is the complete opposite of Roy Jones. Guys like Gatti and Corrales fight the best out there and either knock them out or get KO'ed trying. Roy Jones never took a chance in his career; therefore, he missed his chance to be legendary.

This coming from the guy thatlost to Angel Manfredy

Jones fougt scared his entire career and shyed away from the better competetion. I dont think Jones was the ever the star people make him out to be. How many pay-per-view fights did Jones have? He had the costum made style for Toney and Toney was not in shape. He won 8 rounds to 4 against a green Bernard Hopkins where I feel if the fight was 15 rounds Hopkins would have won. Hopkins was having success against Jones particularly late in the fight in a very similar style to the way Tarver had success against him.
Gatti can't even compare to jones, gatti had wars against micky ward who ins't even a top tier fighter and has gotten blown out whenever he step up to the elite fighters, jones has been an elite fighter from day one and stayed one over the course of 3 divisions and well into his thirties...Besides the money made in the de la hoya fight I highly doubt that gatti has made more money in the fight game than jones has...

              At least Gatti actually FIGHTS!!!!!

I dont call what Jones did on Saturday outside of the 5th round actual FIGHTING. And what he did in alot of other fights.

Gatti gives his all, he deservers respect. Jones has more natural talent than him sure. But Gatti holds stature in Jones class as far a star status is concerned because he makes the most with what he has talent wise.

What Jones did a lot of his other fights was win ... Jones dominated a lot of his fights the way PBF dominated Gatti. I really like watching Gatti fight. He's exciting to watch. But really, Roy Jones is a better fighter and proved it in the ring.

A dominant performance is a knockout or a brutalization of your opponent. Jones hardly ever did that, he fought conservatively and just won boring uneventfull rounds throughout his career. When he fought mail men and police officers he would actually open up. But I dont get alot of entertainment out of watching what is supposed to be a world class fighter knock out a mailman.

Roy Jones stopped taking guys out after wat happend to his close friend Gmac.

If u want an example of roy jones destroying a guy - look at griffin II or the Vinnie P fight.

Vinnie Pazienza was totally washed up when Jones fought him. He was not real contender.
