To be fair though, that style, low punch output, stay on the outside use reach, ring generalship, is really the only way you will come out of a bout with Toney with a W in my opinion. Unless your talking about him at heavyweight where a guy like Vitali could give him problems for several reasons. His obvious height and strenght advantange, that fact he uses it so well. And the fact he fights so well going backward.
roy jones fought well against toney.
rjj has never been known for his style, but his speed, reflexes and volume punching. thats how he wins fights, not every fighter can be a brawler. not to mention rjj is the only person to knock james toney down in a professional fight

            hmm

It is history. I dont care what happened in that boring fight. Toney already in my mind is more an all time great than Jones. With continued success at heavyweight he will prove it even more.

            What I want at Heavyweight

Wlad vs Byrd= Wlad wins, makes a defence, then fights Brewster in a rematch.

Toney vs Brewster= Toney wins, fights someobody in the top 10 and wins then fights Wlad or Vitali.
            LOL...right...

Toney has not had one significant win at heavyweight to date. Holyfield was old as ****, Booker is a cruiserweight, Ruiz was out of shape and Toney didn't win cuz he tested positive for steroids, and Guinn is not even top 20 in a weak division.

The only reason Toney is an all time great in your mind is because you like his style.

Please get the **** outta here. Disliking someone's style is a completely biased and IGNORANT way to determine someone's ranking.

I don't like Hopkins' style...does that mean he's not an all-time great at middleweight? No.

let's not forget roy jones himself said tarver would've given him all he could handle at any point in the career. and roy never says things to this effect, so i beleive he's telling the truth as he sees it.

don't be bitter because tarver has got enough skills to beat roy 2 out of 3.

Same goes for Tyson he never beat anyone who was not already afraid stepping through the ropes.

(Don't use his fight with Oscar DeLaHoya as an argument, EVERYONE would fight Oscar for the $$$$ that goes along with it.)
Where in Gatti's statements did he criticize RJJ for ducking top competition? All he's saying is that once Roy was met w/ resistance he failed w/ a big F. I mean Roy was always the favorite in all those fights maybe w/ the exception of the last 2(doesn't matter even in the last fight he had several opportunities to turn it around, but didn't) . While Gatti although he was a protected fighter, but even when facing opposition comparable to his abilities and was able to come from behind in some of those fights. He's not comparing his record of fighting top-tier guys, but on intangibles alone he has every right to do so.

Ahh, that was Mayweather Jr. probably one of the most talented fighters ever, and we're talking about Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson(who are these guys)don't get me wrong I think Tarver and Johnson are solid veterans. I actually like Tarver, but c'mon c+ versus all-galaxy. Jones(most talented fighter to walk the earth 26 or 36 still far quicker than the two)took a single punch from each and that was all he wrote. Gatti took shots from DLH(tko) Mayweather(the corner had to throw in the towel). Ended both fights on his feet. P4P DLH and Mayweather or Tarver and Johnson. Gatti wasn't expected to beat any of these guys, RJJ was the heads on favorite in his first meetings w/ both of 'em. Sorry forgive me for my comparison of DLH - TARVER... Tarver fought w/ a broken jaw, DLH got ko'd w/ a punch to his elbow or was it his latisimus dorsi(lol) T-Buck is all man, Delahoto ducker extraordinaire. The mention of Winky's name, DeLahoya turns mexican and runs for the border in 60seconds. He says he just wants to fight kids(Judah and Mayweather Jr.) these days.

Toney isn't only an all time great because he likes his style, his resume speaks for itself. Wins over Nunn, McCallum twice, Reggie Johnson (at SuperMiddle, or Middle), Jirov, Holyfield, and more to come. He's a hall of famer right now, and an all time great, and he's still got some gas left in his tank. Not to mention that he's only lost four of his 76 fights. That's pretty damn impressive.
