besides. isn't it plain common sense that when you accuse someone of something, you actually have to show proof? you don't need a judge to tell you to do that.

because that is essentially what they have done. they have accused a man of something WITHOUT SHOWING PROOF, but just plain heresay.

think about it. just imagine if anyone can accuse anybody else of wrongdoing BUT NOT SHOW PROOF just because of the convenient excuse that they don't want to "reveal" their source.

who will be safe from slander?
tell me in all your years of reading newspaper articles where does the author cite is his/her work? Smith doesn't have to show **** at the moment unless he is required to by the court. That is all I am saying. Now whether it would be the morally right thing for Smith and Atlas to show the emails just cause of what Smith wrote about and Atlas said I don't care about. I don't care because I am not emotionally invested in this. I haven't read the article or seen Atlas bit on Friday night fights in a while so I will not speak on if they accused him or not can't remember. The Daily News which Smith writes for has way more journalistic integrity than this site, ESPN, fight hype or any of these other boxing sites.

Common sense ain't so common!!!!!!!!! Like I said earlier in my previous post if compelled to by the court Smith can show the emails and redact the source. That is journalism 101. Journalists have actually gone to jail on contempt charges for not revealing sources because that would ruin their names as trusted journalists for whistleblowers. Not revealing the actual name of the source doesn't take away from the truth of what a journalist has written. Have some journalists lied of course but many have published the truth as well without revealing sources and it is done all the time. Is Smith telling the truth or lying I don't know but I am sure the legal team at the daily news knows cause they don't need lawsuits or the public believing that the information published in their paper is 50/50 possibly true or false. That would lead to people no longer wanting to purchase that paper and relegate it to tabloid status.

Exactly tredh. Its not like this is preschool or something. ESPN and the Daily News have HIGH paid lawyers who deal wityh this isht on a daily basis. Bob ARum is a Harvard educated lawyer who worked in the Justice aDepartment when Kennedy was president.

Bob knows who he can **** with and who he can't. He knows he can BS sue floyd, GBP etcetc, but if he tells Manny to sue ESPN and the Daily News they will hit back HARD!!

I think his point was that the above doesn't change facts.
