martinez is going for chavez because he's more money and less risk.

yet chavez is expected to fight more risk for not much more money.

      it goes both ways.

Exactly, but those guys have their agenda and cannot see the two sides of the coin

Martinez is one hypocritical, duplicitous piece of chicken shit.

For years he has been ducking Chavez, fighting bums, so much so that he was stripped of his paper-title in disgrace. He fled the country after watching Chavez easily decision Zbik(who Martinez had also been ducking) and now from his little hole in Yemen, or wherever he is hiding, he keeps running off at the mouth. If the fight was ever in front of him he'd injure himself so he wouldn't have to get in the ring.

        The man is shook.

The look on his face at the Staples - which was jam packed with Chavez fans - said it all, he is scared.

He knows that 43 have tried.

He knows that 43 have failed.

well, like chavez himself said, he wants to face good opposition now, he feels that he is ready. he's got a green belt, he's got 43 wins to his name, he's in his mid 20s and quite possibly has the best trainer of our time on his side. martinez isn't a knock out artist, or even looked at as an elite fighter on his own level like pac to boxing fans, he's just a formidable opponent who seems to be "avoided", even though in reality there are guys out there that want to face him. there's really no easy opponents for chavez jr in mw, either they could punch or they can box, hence them looking at cotto at 160.

a lot of hypocrisy all around i think.
i'm pretty sure martinez wanted cotto at 154 before he fought dzinziruk, so cotto was on martinez's radar from a while back. chavez jr is going to get cotto at 160. martinez/cotto @ 154 or chavez jr/cotto @ 160? you tell me man...

cotto has a better chance of beating chavez at 160 than beating serg at 154.

so you tell me which fight is more competitive?

i bet you can find a lot of people that think cotto beats chavez at 160.

not even cotto's mom thinks he can beat serg at 154.

well i don't want to say "it's all about opinion" but we've never seen cotto at 160, so we don't know exactly if cotto stands a chance. but martinez/cotto, martinez wanted cotto for a while now, so it's not like he was cherrypicking him at a higher weight for an easy payday, martinez fought before at 154 and challenged cotto for his 154 belt. martinez would've probably been the underdog if it took place in 2010 (before the williams KO) chavez jr is faced with good opposition at mw, so him and his promoters look at cotto and make him go up another weight class to mw, why? because it's an easy fight in their eyes....both of them calling cotto out now is bad though, imo.

Martinez should have already fought Cotto after P.Will but Arum doesn't wanna risk Cotto/Marg 2 and now he's gonna shield JCC Jr as well(kinda like he has his whole career to this point). Martinez is getting screwed, plain n simple.

ahhh man martinez/angulo would be awesome. i think there is plenty of money to be had in mexico for the fight. since who knows when angulo will be able to return to the States. sergio is pretty popular amongst the mexican fans i believe. of course angulo would be the crowd favorite - but the fight could sellout live attendance, and the time zones would be the same as US fights for HBO.
