Pretty sure Dibella has already been trying to make that fight, but Sturm doesn't want it. There have been talks for sure seeing how Dibella recently matched Ronald Hearns (who he promotes) with Sturm.

and there's a couple middleweights that do want to fight serg btw.
Who has called out Martinez? The only guy I know is Pirog. There was also Zbik, but there's no point in that match anymore since Chavez beat him. I think Rubio showed interest, who Martinez already said he wants to fight for the vacant WBC belt (assuming Chavez is stripped).

After beating Zbik, I'm guessing ring will end up ranking Chavez higher than Pirog because zbik was ranked higher than Pirog.

this bothers me.... JCC jr is not on sergio's level... it seems sergio is chasing the money (floyd/pac/JCCjr)... i guess he really does plan to retire soon... homeboys cashing out.

see that's why all this chavez hate kinda irks me.

martinez is going for chavez because he's more money and less risk.

yet chavez is expected to fight more risk for not much more money.

          it goes both ways.

            the thing is though......

people are hating on chavez for fighting cotto.

            martinez himself was chasing cotto.

a lot of hypocrisy all around i think.

The Racket Squad: The Pac Effect

Sergio has been waiting for a huge pay night for years.
He was recently crowned 'fighter of the year' and watched as Manny made a fortune fighting a 'way over the mountain' Mosely.

If you are 35 and declared the best, the first course of action should be finally acheiving a little fiscal security. That's just plain smart.
The fistic celebrations could end at any moment when you hit the big time so late in life.

For those who think that Chavez would be raw meat for the P4P 2nd, I would think twice.
Given Jr.'s propensity for accepting damage and Sergio's age, this could be the best money contest for both men.
They each have short career spans ahead and each could potentially lose to less gifted fighters before cashing in.

Case in point: I like Ortiz over Mayweather for one reason.
Ortiz finally likes the game and will not be so quick to cave.
(Say what you will but Chavez LOVES to fight.)
Floyd is more money starved then legacy hungry.
His legs are going to eventually fail him from inactivity.
He's got the right idea ( new, young champ) but the wrong guy.

                Priceless
you must be a troll or an alt of somebody. i never said or brought up pac's opponents when discussing martinez's situation. i never even said martinez is the p4p king, i know pac is the top dog, i always indicated martinez is behind and capable of surpassing him.

GTFOH. You all act like Chavez Jr is your daddy or something the way you're quick to defend him not fighting the best. I thought champions were the best and that's why they're champions?
No he's not in his prime, for that he needs to fight better fighters and win so he can get to his maximum potential

But if he fights Martinez he will get destroyed and will not do him any good, a Cotto fight is good for him, because it brings much more money (it could possibly be a PPV) and Jr has a chance to beat Cotto (not because of his skills, but because Cotto is not in his prime anymore and will be a "Very small MW"), if he somehow beats Cotto that will bring him more recognition among the casual fans, more money and very good experience too.

So a Martinez fight for Chavez doesn't make sense
