Bro I specifically remember a ton of writers calling Manny an elite Flyweight back then due to his talent, relentless style, speed and power.

This was common knowledge back then, but whatever.....

Come on, man. He got lucky beating the Lineal Champion of the Flyweight division. And his knockout of Ricky Hatton at the Junior Welterweight division is not really that impressive. So, that is another Lineal Champion title that doesn't count.

Now, let us compare it Roy Jones:

Roy Jones Jr. fought a career Middleweight fighter Bernard Hopkins at the 170 lbs a two division jump and at an old age too.

Roy Jones Jr. fought a career Welterweight/Middleweight fighter Felix Trinidad at the 170 lbs a two division jump and at an old age too.

Roy Jones Jr. fought a legitimate Light Heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver at 175 lbs one the first of the trilogy but lost the other two by knockout and unanimous decision.

Roy Jones Jr. fought another legitimate Light Heavyweight contender/champion Glen Johnson lost by way of knockout.

I mean if I keep breaking it down to the ground then I would say Manny Pacquiao is the better fighter by a mile even if I took away some of hi accomplishments like his lineal titles at Flyweight and Junior Welterweight. And I had to take away Manny's accomplishment in the Super Bantamweight division too in order to equalize to Roy Jones Jr. record of accomplishments.

I think the best fights to happen would be at Super Bantamweight between Manny Pacquiao, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Erik Morales. They were all beasts in those divisions.

It is that Manny P, at 106 lbs (which he sustained only for his debut fight) was just a skinny underfed teenager, whose weight progress could be seen as he grew a little older. (and earned money for better food) Jones was at least an almost fully grown man at whatever age he had his first fight. I don't even have to bother checking in Boxrec.

THIS, is the vital point, not "lineal" champs, or who went up in weight more than the other.
Cogent argument! I agree, pacquiao started boxing in his teenage years when there's a rapid physical growth, it may justify his success in climbing weights in lower divisions. However I disagree of the notion- had he had money for better food he would have not weighed 106-112. Pinoys are naturally slim during adolescent stage, if pacquiao was malnourished/underfed how did he got the strength and stamina to compete in a combat sport? Also there were stories that in his childhood he was already working like a horse to support his family.
