From fly to super-fly is only 3 lbs, and from Super-fly to bantam is another 3 lbs. Even if the men are smaller, whereas from Jr.-middle to middle is 6 lns and middle to super-middle is 8 lbs. Double the smaller weight. Even though Jr.-middle, middle and super-middle are nowhere near double the size of the lighter weights mentioned.
And, of course, when you get to Ly-heavy and cruiser, the whole weight proportion is completely "skewed".
Another point is that Jones, except for the 1st Hopkins fight, faught only well established champions, and at least a few Hall of Famers, whereas Manny P. fought mostly manufactured champs and again mostly, not nearly the top men in their divisions. I see no problem with immediately going for Jones, much as I like Manny P.
yeah but like i said in my past posts, 3 or 4 lbs to small fighters equates to 7 or so lbs to big guys..... commision have designed weightclaes based on that.....so it's irelvenat...the only sensible way of compring a small fihter to a big fighter when it comes to weightclimbing is by comparing how many weightclasess they have jumped...
roy has fought as much if not more manufactured fighters than pac..we can start counting if you want......
you did mentioned that Manny was an underfed teenager and indeed was when he won the Flyweight from the lineal and best flyweight at that time. but what was more impressive was the fact that he was a TEENAGER and WEIGHT DRAINED. how many teenagers beat the best in their weightclass?
Mike Tyson got the respect of almost every boxing analyst since becoming the youngest HW champ at age 20.
There were several in history who were under 20 when they won their titles. I believe the youngest was 17. Also flyweights are very few participating compared to even the bantams, and as for the welters and middleweights, I suppose they have ten or more times the amount of competitors. That has always been a major reason why a top fighter like Ricardo Lopez is never mentioned in any list. He's almost forgotten although he only retired a couple of years or so ago.
He was, I think, 50-0-1. He was too small for anyone except the purists to bother noticing.
And people like you forget that he got busted TWICE using steroids.
I didn't know about "twice". I know that on one occasion he was found to be using steroids, and when the Commission found that his opponent had also used them, the complaint was quietly dropped. Although he may have served a few months suspension, I don't recall. But if he did, it was not even a "slap-on-the-wrist, since he would not have been fighting then anyway.

Pac forced a CW on them and that makes a world of difference , you can move up many divisions if you can use CWs so that it weakens the bigger man , its a myth that Pac is leveling the fight by making the bigger man smaller , your are hurting him , because the opponents are already strung out weight wise , now Pac wants JMM to go the other way to where its too heavy for him to slow him down ,,,, CWs are being abused by Manny .
