How many LINEAL Champ did Roy Jones Jr beat?
          0
although RJJ beat James Toney, Toney was NOT the lineal champ at SMW. neither was Bhop at MW, neither were Griffin, johnson or del valle at LHW and not Ruiz at HW

The real fact of the matter IS, that Manny P was still a growing young teenager at 106. I believe that he was only 16. A D....he didn't stay at 106 for more than a SINGLE fight. You can see the progress of his weight as he grew into manhood. A guy can grow until he's about 25. The myth of age 21 is pureky because that was, for very many years, the legal age of majority-or...becoming a man as opposed to a"youth" or "lad".

            referred to as...the coming-of-age.

I actually believe-and I could be wrong here- that Jones was not able to go as high as 200, I think 193 was his weight, after packing on lots of muscle with a special training course, and Ruiz, a genuine champion, with many fights aginst top opposition, was about 230 or more.

So 54 lbs extra is, sort of, an understatement.

not a fair way to compare it....if pac and roy were the same size thenit would be fair...but they ar not.....the best way of comparing thier weigh climbing is to count how many weightcalses they have jumped.....

The "lineal champ" should be the least concern to you. Just research or even, think......

How many "lineal champs" were the best at the weight in their divisions???? Not too many.

For instance I recall that Shannon Briggs , the worst of the "champions, was the "lineal" champ at the time.

Yes, but you are neglecting a MAJOR point, and one which I think is the crux of the whole discussion. It has been mentioned on this subject only by one other than myself, which I saw after I had written in.

It is that Manny P, at 106 lbs (which he sustained only for his debut fight) was just a skinny underfed teenager, whose weight progress could be seen as he grew a little older. (and earned money for better food) Jones was at least an almost fully grown man at whatever age he had his first fight. I don't even have to bother checking in Boxrec.

THIS, is the vital point, not "lineal" champs, or who went up in weight more than the other.
