He has no control over fighters in different MMA "leagues". Its liek comparing apples and oranges. The UFC is a league.
The thing is, they own WEC & Strikeforce. The 3 biggest companies are now united. So any interesting MMA fight CAN and probably WILL happen.

Besides Zuffa(WEC, Strikeforce, UFC) what other big MMA leagues are there? Dream is in Japan, that's the only one that comes close.

Yeah, but their company owns the contract of 95+% of the top25 fighters in each weightclass.

Thats exactly the thing that makes UFC so great. Their monopoly status makes them more interested in building stars, and putting on great fightcards every month.
Compare that to boxing with its 100s of sneaky promotors trying to cash in on that one big star while the sport suffers.
Guys like Bob Arum is CANCER to this sport.

In terms of popularity, boxing still far exceeds MMA in countries like the UK, Germany, Japan, the Philippines, Mexico, and Russia.

It's not really close, as It's mostly just freakshows and sub top25level guys fighting over there nowadays.

Besides that. Japanese mma is going down the drain quickly. Within a year, i wouldnt be surprised if K-1, dream and sengoku is done.

yep, boxing is more "global" for sure.

UFC is branching out now though and making some aggressive moves to spread the sport.

doesn't matter. truth still stands that UFC is a league not a sport. Boxing is a sport.

To compare UFC to boxing y ou would have to compare the UFC to a single boxing organization like WBO.

So yes UFC is bigger than WBO but it's not bigger than Boxing.

Sengoku is dead, they lost their biggest/main sponsor and Dream is trying to live on but the K1 downfall is unfortunate and sad. I've always been a huge fan of K1 and the Superbowl of fighting(K1 WGP).

How popular is Saul outside of mexico? Will he still be huge when he lose?

I wouldnt bank on him to carry the sport just yet.

I agree but the UFC is going mainstream big time, I mean they sold out a arena in Germany in 24 hours and in England it's always a sell out. They even had a sell out in Australia and their in talks with China and they want to host a few fights in Japan also.
