Call me crazy, but I think JMM has a better chance at beating Pacquiao than Clottey or Margarito ever did.
And if not, then at least two things:
1. The fight will have action.
2. JMM was more deserving of a Pacquiao fight than either Clottey, Margarito, or Shane.
Márquez is actually skilled. The only problem is the weight, but the weight issue is not that big. It's not like Márquez is jumping up to junior middleweight or something insane. He'll be out of his element a little, but he will give Pacquiao hell before/if he goes down. I just can't rule out Márquez being wiped out by Pacquiao.
Two huge factors going into this fight:
1. Márquez is an aggressive counter-puncher. Contrary to Floyd, Márquez is not the kind of fighter who potshots and moves out quickly. He is a master counterpuncher and usually comes away with the better of exchanges, but that's exactly the problem. He is a counter-puncher who gets hit. Again, terrific counter-punching, but he gets hit.
2. Márquez starts out cold and tends to be vulnerable to left hands/hooks. In both of his fights with Pacquiao, he was dropped early, in his fight with Juan Díaz, he was stunned briefly in the second round, and in his fight with Katsidis, he was also dropped early. These moments of vulnerability were all triggered by left hands. Three of which from left hooks. Oh, I forgot to mention: Mayweather dropped him early, too (2nd round) with...guess what? A left hook.
Márquez has to hope he can make it past the initial rounds and find his rhythm. Whether he'll win or not, I don't know. I just think it's ridiculous how people are completely dismissing him.
