Ortiz only threw 696 total punches and landed 281 against a face-first come forward Berto, what make you think he'll land and throw that amount of punches against someone who won't try to be the aggressor and capitalizing on his mistakes? Heck, he only threw 113 punches more than Marquez did against his fight with Floyd, and yet(even though compubox isn't always accurate) he(Marquez) only landed a total of 69 punches on Floyd.

I'd give Ortiz a better shot at beating Mayweather than Manny...............

Yes maybe ortiz should try beat FLoyd, and if he does, Pac can beat Ortiz instead of beating Floyd. Not all roads lead to Floyd.

Berto was called a hypejob, bum, overrated HBO fighter, while Ortiz was called a quitter, doesn't come out for the championship rounds, has no heart.
Now Ortiz decisions the 'bum' Andre Berto, and all of a sudden Mayweather wouldn't fight Ortiz because he's scared of him. On top of all of this, let's walk all over Manny, forget his chances against Mayweather, Mayweather is no longer afraid of Manny, actually Manny has no chance at beating him now, because a new star was born, named Victor Ortiz.

But I do agree with you with the "King of the week" line. Isn't that what always happens?
I mean when Donaire knocked out Montiel, a lot of people were saying he was the P4P #2 and that he's better than Pacquiao.
People just get really excited. In Spanish we say "Se pasan de contento", which means, "they get overly happy" and so they say and do things in the heat of the moment because of excitement.
If Berto would have won, people would have said "he was supposed to win", which is true he was supposed to win, and wouldn't get near as hyped as Ortiz is getting, because Ortiz got the upset. But if Berto would have won, people would have said, oh Ortiz is a bum, he'll never be the next Golden Boy, he ain't vicious, he's more like cautious, you know, and so on, and "Berto needs to step up now".

Mosley and Marquez: Total punches landed/thrown against Floyd
Landed: 161
Thrown: 1,035
Those lands are from two fights compared to Ortiz's 281 lands in one fight against Berto.

Ortiz is big, strong, powerful, consistent, a lefty, but one who has a good jab, and sound fundamentals
Consistent doesn't score two first round knockdowns then get put down a round later. Consistent doesn't score two second round knockdowns then lose the last seven rounds. Consistent doesn't score three knockdowns in two rounds and lose by sixth round KO. Victor Ortiz scores knockdowns, then consistently gets wild.
Good jab? It is a pawing jab that he doesn't even try to land with. He throws it to come up short. "2 jabs landed in 10 rounds. His jab just isn't a weapon he uses." - Merchant during the Berto fight.
Sound fundamentals? Maybe for a 24 year old. He lunges straight in all the time. Berto constantly invited him in and tried to counter with the right after the lunging left. His corner told him about it. Did he stop? No, and went down twice from the same move.

No chance. Ortiz doesn't possess the style to give Mayweather more problems than Pacquiao.
You need to put pressure and throw a lot of punches to rattle Mayweather. Ortiz doesn't have these attributes under his arsenal. Pacquiao is his worse nightmare, because he fights at a high tempo, and will force Mayweather to fight every second of the fight. Castillo had success due the pressure he put on Mayweather.
Ortiz will end up taking a beating and probably outclassed. Ortiz will play a game of chess with Mayweather like the rest of his opponents, he isn't accustomed to beat Mayweather.
This thread is absolute nonsense and ignorance.
