  • Ortiz doesn't have the mental strength, Speed, technical or athletic ability to beat floyd.

You need at least 3 of 4 to have a chance.

I can't remember Pac ever showing any kind of weakness.. and even against Berto Ortiz showed a lot of vulnerabilities.

He couldn't even keep up his assault for more than 5 rounds before slowing down, and pac can do it for 12.

Floyd shuts down ortiz within 5 rounds and starts dominating. I don't see Floyd shutting down pac- he can beat him by points, but he can't shut him down.

Ortiz is easy money for floyd.

    • LOL at Victor having a good jab. He didn't even throw 30 jabs in the Berto fight. He gave Berto a hell of a fight but we have to see if it was a one time thing for Ortiz or if he can prove it time and time again like Pacquiao has with his one sided beatdown against p4p fighters. Mayweather has put together onesided UD's in all his recent fights. So if he can fight maybe Margarito, Cotto, Mosley or somebody else maybe paul williams or something then he can get into the talks.

      • I was very impressed with Ortiz's performance against Berto, but some of you guys are making him out to be some sort of a monster all of a sudden.

Ortiz, by way of being an agressive lefty with good power and a bit of speed, would be somewhat competitive with Mayweather for a couple rounds, I think. Floyd, however, would figure him out before long and dominate the fight. Ortiz barely landed any jabs against either Peterson or Berto; he sort of pawed with it as a range-finder before darting it and unloading power punches from both hands and then backing off to reset. Like I said, I can see him having a bit of success with this approach early, but this isn't a style that I think troubles Floyd over the course of 12 rounds. Ortiz also walked onto quite a few shots in his last couple fights, so you can bet that he'll be getting caught early and often against Floyd. Another concern for Victor is that Berto just isn't good at fighting on the inside at all, which played a bit part in him being able to win that fight. Floyd, on the other hand, is one of the best inside fighters in the sport.

Ortiz is more dangerous to Mayweather than what Manny is imo. Ortiz is big, strong, powerful, consistent, a lefty, but one who has a good jab, and sound fundamentals.

A worry for Ortiz in a fight with Mayweather, is whether Ortiz is good enough at cutting the ring down when pressing, if Mayweather was able to draw him foward and was trying to use his movement to offset him.

Ortiz is a skilled, consistent, 5ft 9, power punching lefty. That would give Mayweather problems imo.

I give Manny little chance of beating Mayweather.

Manny's defense isn't good enough when on the the front foot, he doesn't have the ability to create his openings aside from feinting his way in, as he has no jab. Mayweather would paint Manny with lead right hands, counters uppercuts when he was shooting in with the big left, offset him with movement imo. Mayweather just has more ways to win against him, than what he has against Mayweather, not to mention the physical disparity between the two in terms of length.

I'd rather seen Mayweather vs Ortiz, only I think Floyd is smart enough to understand that Ortiz potentially posses a lot more problems stylistically.

            • Damn how one fight can change everything.

Berto was called a hypejob, bum, overrated HBO fighter, while Ortiz was called a quitter, doesn't come out for the championship rounds, has no heart.

Now Ortiz decisions the 'bum' Andre Berto, and all of a sudden Mayweather wouldn't fight Ortiz because he's scared of him. On top of all of this, let's walk all over Manny, forget his chances against Mayweather, Mayweather is no longer afraid of Manny, actually Manny has no chance at beating him now, because a new star was born, named Victor Ortiz.

              • Cant believe what am reading here, Ortiz doesnt have the big experience to be even competitive at this level, it would be fun finding out but the same people calling for the fight would start talking about how Mayweather cherrypicked this fight after the 4th round.

                  • Brilliant how one fight can totally alter a fighter's status. Before the Berto fight, Ortiz was a quitter/had no heart, now he's more of a chance at beating Mayweather than Manny? Don't think so, brah. I give Victor mad props for beating Berto, but you're putting him on some ****ed up pedestal here. Berto is all speed, that's it - he tries to overwhelm people, and he couldn't do that with Victor and pretty much played into his hands. Andre had to fight smart, he didn't, he got beat as a result of it. Good win, but he ain't on the level you think. Both Manny and Floyd clown Victor.

                    • This whole "King of the week" tournament thing need to stop. Ortiz had a great fight and put on a spectacular performance, but don't get carried away too soon as if he's on the same level as Floyd and Manny.
