  • I'd give Ortiz a better shot at beating Mayweather than Manny...............

I'd give Ortiz a better shot at beating Mayweather than Manny, cause Manny has no chance imo.

Ortiz is more dangerous to Mayweather than what Manny is imo. Ortiz is big, strong, powerful, consistent, a lefty, but one who has a good jab, and sound fundamentals.

A worry for Ortiz in a fight with Mayweather, is whether Ortiz is good enough at cutting the ring down when pressing, if Mayweather was able to draw him foward and was trying to use his movement to offset him.

Ortiz is a skilled, consistent, 5ft 9, power punching lefty. That would give Mayweather problems imo.

I give Manny little chance of beating Mayweather.

Manny's defense isn't good enough when on the the front foot, he doesn't have the ability to create his openings aside from feinting his way in, as he has no jab. Mayweather would paint Manny with lead right hands, counters uppercuts when he was shooting in with the big left, offset him with movement imo. Mayweather just has more ways to win against him, than what he has against Mayweather, not to mention the physical disparity between the two in terms of length.

I'd rather seen Mayweather vs Ortiz, only I think Floyd is smart enough to understand that Ortiz potentially posses a lot more problems stylistically.

He wouldn't fight Ortiz imo. Only way Mayweather would fight someone like him, is if he lost his zero to someone else, was broke, and needed money, and that was the viable option to make the most money.

get ready for the hate replies from all the pinoys...
but idk man, manny is on another complete level compared to ortiz. i don't think ortiz would be a harder fight. manny has angles, speed, power and most importantly, EXPERIENCE. like some posters have argued between ortiz and some undefeated WWs (solomon and jones) they can disrupt ortiz's gameplan, frustrate him, and ortiz would simply have nothing but to pressure them, it would go something like his peterson fight. if people think those guys can beat ortiz, imagine how bad mayweather would school him? ortiz, even though he wants these fights, he is still young and needs fights at WW to better himself as a fighter.

I think he meant Pac-Mayweather, not Ortiz-Mayweather. Your post should give Floyd the confidence to get in the ring with Manny since Manny has little chance.

Maybe Ortiz fights to the level of his opponent? I remember Salvador Sanchez having his issues with Ruben Castillo, Pat Cowdell. Mayweather himself didn't looked to stellar against Sosa and Corley imo.

The key for me, is that Ortiz is a lefty, but not a fighting lefty like Manny, but one who is capable of working his openings off the jab, but one who also has power and skill.

Mayweather might be on another level in terms of skills, but I dont think Manny is on that level either.

The best Manny would do against Mayweather imo, is make him fight at a slightly faster pace than he would like to, albeit still get hit with the cleaner punches whilst trying to apply that pressure.

Manny can only mount attacks from other angles after he's pinned you down with his first punch, but what happens when you take away his left hand, his set up punch?

If you have a leaky defense, you aren't going to beat Mayweather.

i can already see people saying manny can fight with either hand. im not sure on the idea of ortiz fights to the level of his opponent because after he KD'ed peterson, he was simply getting schooled (from what i remembered, i only watched it once, live). and manny has a pretty good guard, he's not open like most fighters, plus his quickness is just too good. i don't think he would have too much of a problem landing a shot on mayweather, landing flurries or power shots yeah, but he can deff get some shots in. it's hard to say how pacquiao/mayweather would play out, i think that's why it's such a big fight. but ortiz is just not experienced enough to handle mayweather, i just see him not being able to do much and floyd coasting to a MD/UD.
