Cotto fought the best available opponents and a real warrior. So legacy wise Cotto is a country mile ahead of Gayweather.

      Back in reality,

Mayweather = Top 100 ATG in many estimations.

While Cotto's HOF chances are questioned here by boxing fans quite regularly.

      Floyd's Legacy >>>>>>>>>> Cotto's. It's not even a question, really.

        Stopped Quintana

        KO'd Judah

        Beat Mosley

        Beat Foreman

He has only lost to Margarito (who most likely cheated in their fight) and Pacquiao (who is the greatest fighter in the sport).

        Mayweather Notable wins

        KO'd Corrales

        Beat Castillo

        Beat Judah

        Beat De La Hoya (SD)

        KO'd Hatton

Beat Marquez (Marquez was blown up, and Floyd came in over the limit)

Beat Mosley (who was old and coming off a long layoff)

Has consistently avoided the no1 p4p boxer in the sport Pacquiao, while Cotto fought against him valiantly.

In my opinion Cotto >>>>> Mayweather
Cotto just like others are better fighters than FLoyd. Floyd is greater defensively though and thats what Floyd is famous for.
If Floyd can do better than Cotto against Pac, he may end up remembered as a better fighter than Cotto though.

until Floyd grows some balls & fight the Real Best P4P on the planet... He will always be remembered as the Greatest Ducker in boxing History. Cotto was undefeated in 2007 before he fought tony... same year floyd beat Hatton, Merchant asked him to fight Cotto & Floyd said "Cotto is one hell of a champion & Im retiring". For Pac, we all know he is waiting until Pac gets beat up in a fight, so floyd can steep in & beat him.

FLOYD = GREATEST DUCKER OF ALL TIME

At first I was smiling at the title's possibility but when resumes were compared Cotto's were better. If Miguel had a loudmouth and a media sensation/hype he would have been ranked higher.

                Mosley
                JMM
                Hatton
                Judah
                Castillo(twice)
                Corrales
                Sosa
                Hernandez
                Gatti
                Mitchell
                DLH

Cotto is my favorite boxer since Trinidad but I like Floyd's resume a little better. It doesn't help that people are brining in guys like Paulie and Foreman to help Cotto's case either cause Floyd supporters can bring N'Dou, Corley and Emanuel Augustus into the discussion as well.

These two quotes should have ended the thread right there...

Selling 2m PPV's against De La Hoya looks nice on the CV but doesn't add to a fighters legacy.

And Floyd has shown himself to be the more skilled fighter against lesser opposition. How do his skills stack up against a prime Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, or Pacquiao?
Even though 4 out of the 5 weight classes he won a title were off the fighter ranked #1? (Occasionaly excluding the Lineal Champion) And the other one was a Top 5 fighter?

It's easy to sit in a comfortable desk chair and call a man who took heavy and sustained punishment over 11 brutal rounds a quitter. In my opinion Cotto absorbed more than he should have done. He literally left everything he had in that ring. A lesser man would have quit on his stool.

Cotto isn't no Witter or Alexander.
