  • Cotto will leave a greater legacy in the sport than Mayweather!

    Cotto - Notable wins

    KO'd undefeated Maussa

    KO'd Bailey

    KO'd Torres

    Beat Mallignaggi

    Stopped Quintana

    KO'd Judah

    Beat Mosley

    Beat Clottey

    Beat Foreman

He has only lost to Margarito (who most likely cheated in their fight) and Pacquiao (who is the greatest fighter in the sport).

    Mayweather Notable wins

    KO'd Corrales

    Beat Castillo

    Beat Judah

    Beat De La Hoya (SD)

    KO'd Hatton

Beat Marquez (Marquez was blown up, and Floyd came in over the limit)

Beat Mosley (who was old and coming off a long layoff)

Has consistently avoided the no1 p4p boxer in the sport Pacquiao, while Cotto fought against him valiantly.

In my opinion Cotto >>>>> Mayweather

Floyd's legacy was sealed in the highest grossing fight in the history of the sport at a solid 154 lbs for the WBC title belt. He has a spot reserved for him in the Hall Of Fame.

Mayweather will leave a greater impact on the sport of boxing, and he may be remembered by more fans, but for true boxing fans, Cotto simply has the superior resume. He has never shied away from a challenge and puts a show on every time he fights. I will even go as far to say that a pre Margarito Cotto would have given Mayweather the fight of his life. Still, I doubt Mayweather would have ever fought an undefeated Cotto at welterweight. Too much risk involved.

laughed when i read the thread title but actually on looking it over floyd's list of wins does look rather thin.

I suppose his best win was that real close call against Oscar. (I think floyd won the fight myself but others may not agree) He looked great against corrales who was one of my favs but well i'm not gonna blow that win out of porportion corrales was a fav of mine but he was always beatable.

Other big wins ... Zab Judah? eh he looses against anybody good

Castillio - well in that first fight Floyd looked awful

Marquez - well that win is as you said - coming in over the limit against a guy who had come up in weight to fight him like that was what finally turned me off floyd for good - disgraceful carry on.

Hatton was decent but overhyped he only had one really top notch win was put on thre canvass by bloody eamon magee and almost lost against collazo (I'm not counting that win against old Castillo) ... and look what pac did to him.

Mosley ... if it had been 5 or six years ago it would have been a great win .. still a decent win but not a great win. Cotto's win over younger mosley is obviously the better win for legacy.

Anyway one thing is clear, Cotto has more balls than anybody ... he fights everybody and Floyd ducked him and always will

When the time was right for a Mayweather-Cotto fight Arum wasn't having it. It would've been a good fight to watch. That's all I'll say about it.

its easy to have zero losses if you duck anybody who has a chance of beating you
