I'm basing my comments on the Ring magazine's list.

According to ring magazine, Pac is still #1 P4P as of March 6, 2011 and has been in the list for an unmatched 379 weeks!

the closest anyone is to that number is Juan Manuel Marquez at 208.

floyd jr is listed at #2 and has been in the list for only 77 weeks.

i CANNOT say for sure that this means pac has been #1 longer than floyd jr. since the list only says how long they've been in the P4P list, NOT how long they've been in their current position, since people tend to go up and down the list, depending on their performance.

but if i would bet, i'm pretty sure it would be safe to say that Pac has been #1 longer than floyd.

    UPDATE:

hmmmm.... pac has been #1 P4P at ring magazine since nov 11, 2008, and remained there until now.

    http://www.east side boxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103560

    so simplifying that :

    nov 11, 2008 to dec 31, 2008 = 6 weeks #1 P4P
    whole of 2009 = 52 weeks #1 P4P
    whole of 2010 = 52 weeks #1 P4P = 110 weeks

so 2008 to 2010 ALONE pac has been #1 LONGER than floyd jr has been in the list (which is 77 weeks)
This makes no sense. 52 weeks make a year. Floyd been on this list since he beat Corrales or probable earlier, and thats like 10 years ago. 10 X 52= 520 weeks. As far as being number one, that is since the hopkins' loss. But, to the original question he has to be in the top ten longer than 77 weeks.

That list sounds as if it's recounting everytime Mayweather says he's retired.

      • Martinez needs to impress..

So, how the **** does martinez think he accomplished something by defeating a 35 yo junior middleweight that nobody's heard of? Lets see, Pacquiao's last fight was against Antonio Margarito, a man that outweighed him by 17 pounds and who tko'd this idiot martinez. Now, who is the one that needs to impress?? Both martinez and dibella need to shut the f@ck up and fight some real opponents before they can even consider maravilla to be better than mayweather or pac! Period!

Are you trying to tell me that those past Pac opponents are better than Williams, Pavlik and Dzinziruk?

You make no sense. Those fights happened 3 years ago. Manny is an all time great and one of the best ever but you try to focus on right now. For the past two years, Sergioi Martinez has fought better guys than anyone else. I mean, why the hell do you think he won fighter of the year last year? Because boxing experts agreed that he fought the best and won against them. If you wanna talk about 3 years ago, then fine, Manny is the king. He won fighter of the decade and he more than deserves it but for the last two years, no one has done better than Sergio Martinez. I really don't know why the hell you guys can't appreciate what he has done.

Most of you Pac fans hate Mayweather because i agree, he's been fighting bums for years now and selects his opponents carefully but Sergio does the complete opposite. He fought tough champs that others avoid and has looked impressive in all of the fights.

People like sergio and cotto are a dying breed because they personify what a champion is all about. Taking on all comers. Who gives a shyt how many straps Manny wins it's about the quality, not the quantity of opposition. When you throw someone like Martinez in with Dzinziruk it's easy to judge the loser as being inferior/bum whatever because the landscape changes and suddenly it's a B-guy against a world class boxer displaying his superior skill but under different circumstances you might be surprised that the once undefeated journeyman is actually decent in his other fights. So yea experts/analysts/observers can overlook the younger untested guys all they want but that gives them no right to single out a good challenge when it presents itself. Cotto was a 10-1 favorite to smoke Mayorga on Sat but the fight actually went down the stretch...upsets happen and Pac should be no exception to that. I say stop protecting him, Arum, pick someone who will push him to the edge. Wonder how fast Valero would have rocketed up the pound for pound ranks if he'd managed to secure a fight with pac and managed to KO him @ welter..
bro...manny has earned his stripes........live with it....wars with morales, barrera and marquez alone beats cotto and sergios resume...
