Pac got into the P4P top 10 in 2003, got to #2 in 2006, and got to #1 when Mayweather "retired" at the start of 2008, nearly a year before he fought De La Hoya.

ever hear of muhammad ali? a man secure enough in himself to declare joe frazier the champ. he didn't kowtow. he just manned up and said i'm coming to get back.

      floyd should try that tactic.
I don't care what Floyd does because he's not fighting or even talking for that matter. Once he starts fighting again, I will care. I am not the one that kept him close to Pac on the P4P list all this time he is not fighting. Blame the sport of boxing.

Sergei was a bonus. Pavlik, Williams and Sergei were all coming off wins and were more regarded than Pac's past 3 opponents and that's why Martinez is up on Pac's heels.
sergio is aching for really big money fights...that is why instead of calling up guys at the heavier levels (where he thinks he won't get the big pie) he's calling up on pac...and also is challenging pbf by relegating pbf under him on the p4p list...

Margarito fought as well against Pac as he did against Cotto - and he did better against Pac than Cotto did. If he was dog food after Mosley then he was dog food before Mosley.

Do you blame him? Pac and Floyd both won 154lb titles. I am sure Pac or Floyd won't fight Martinez. Sergio just has to keep fighting the tougher, ranked guys and he won't need them.

whats the difference between that and weight draining people or fighting at catchweights?
When was the last time manny took on someone at their natural weight in their prime?
              its ok
              ill wait....
don't cry for fighters who lost matches under catchweights...they agreed to fight at those levels coz they believed they can win those matches... the fact that they lost and were not giving excuses should indicate to all to accept that as part of the sports/games..

It's also the case that Donaire is ranked higher than Martinez P4P at present, and that Martinez completely ignored that fact in his propaganda statement.

How can Sergio be #1 when he's just won 3 fights? He has to continue to get impressive wins before he can claim that spot. Let's not forget that while he did just win 3 fights, prior to that he scored a draw against Cintron and a loss against Pwill. Now, regardless how you feel about those fights (I think he won both), the Draw and Loss remain. Pacquiao not being impressive against Mosley won't change that.

Sergio may jump over Floyd due to Floyd's inactivity but Pacquiao will have to lose a fight and Sergio to get some more wins under his belt before he can have a legit claim at that #1.

He probably has to worry more about Donaire than Pac in the P4P rankings.

Btw, I like Sergio very much just don't agree with his statement nor with people insisting that a welterweight has to fight a middleweight.

Martinez wants badly the no. 1 p4p title. Give it to him, for a change. I'm sure Pac won't mind being no. 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 .......... Sergio won the 2010 BWAA BOY award., Pac said, he is happy Sergio won it. I'm sure he will be happy too if Ring Mag makes Sergio no. 1 p4p
