So what about Pavlik in the Hopkins fight and him looking terrible in his tune up fights leading to Martinez bout? Why do you guys like to pick and chose bouts when judging these guys as fighters?

Im not getting involved in your arguement with Phresh, im only pointing that out, do you honestly think Margarito is still a top WW fighter?

And FWIW I have Floyd at number #3 behind Martinez at #2 and Pacquiao being #1. The Mosley fight was only 9-10 months ago and Shane was a top 3 WW that Floyd dominated.

Usually after people see someone put an impressive win, they get hyped up and convinced that they are #1, and then they'll change their minds when some other top guy puts an impressive win after that.

The only problem is no one Manny will face will be favored over him. He tried Floyd, and while I'm not gonna debate who is at fault, we can both agree there was an attempt by both parties...so well just leave it at that.

Same with Martinez. I doubt any of his next fights will be pickem fights bit that's what happens when you reach an elite level like those guys have.

ive been solid on maravilla since the pavlik win but its only strengthened with his wins over legit adversaries. donaire isnt top yet but a few more wins like that monteil one and hes up there. sergio has been consistant in his last 4 fights his loss to williams was a relevant fight.

could clottey or marg have beaten pac? whats the legit percntage? can mosley beat pac? could pavlik hve beat sergio? could williams? could dzinzuruk have beaten sergio? their is an absolute yes to all of those questions but the difference is in how close considering pacs and sergios current level of skill and talent. are those fights tailor made? possibly. the angle is who were those fighters and where were they at in their careers when pac and martinez fought them. that question starts to truely seperate the 2.

I my post i stated Margarito had been a top WW for over a decade.

Margarito has moved on, just like Cotto and Williams, but if he did campaign at 147, I can't think of more than 5 WW that can beat him. If a guy is a top 5-6 talent in his respective division then yes I consider him a top
fighter in that class. Anyon who knows me, knows this has always been my stance.
