Margarito is still a tough guy who was a full weight division bigger than Pacquiao when they fought and Mosley is still dangerous and again, will probably be a full weight division bigger than Pacquiao when they fight.

The thing with Pacquiao is that the guys he's fighting and beating are naturally much bigger than he is and he's doing it without losing more than a fee rounds along the way.

Excuses can be made for every fighter when they lose, like Pavlik was going through alcohol issues ever since the Hopkins fight and that Williams might have been better suited at 154 since he's moving back down in weight now and that Dzinziruk could also be better served at 154 since he can still make the weight effectively and has been there throughout his career. This is not trying to take anything away from Martinez but all I'm saying is that Pacquiao still deserves to be the number 1 guy in the sport until he loses or until he starts fighting bums, he hasn't lost and he isn't fighting bums.
    i also agree with this.

I think its become almost fashionable to downplay Pac's last few fights, and ignore the fact he is fighting bigger men who are all still quality fighters.

People seem to conveniently forget Cotto vs Pac was a 50/50 fight. Now he was shot? lol

Silencers, arguably the best poster in this forum, is always spot on.

      • You can make an argument for P4P No. 1 for Sergio if you define P4P by recent victories alone. No problem with that at all.

However, it seems that we are forgetting what 'pound for pound' really means. It assumes that if two fighters are of the same weight, one would beat the other.

So, if we assume that Pac and Sergio are of the same weight, which one would win?

BTW I just want to repeat not Berta though he has some proven to do of his own before he can even say Pac's name..Or any other top level fighter imo..

Margarito fought Pac at a catchweight of 150 lbs. Sergio says he has to lose an arm or a leg to face Pac at 150. I didn't see a one-armed or one-legged Margarito during the weigh-in against Pac.

So, how can Sergio be smaller than Margarito?

Furthermore, Pac COULDN'T even make the 150 lbs catchweight. He only weighed-in at 144.6.

So, how in blazes is Pacquiao not too small for Sergio?

Pac has a Jr MW belt,no??If Pac really wanted this fight he could agree to 152lb and get it on..Marga's and Pwilly are just bigger fighters then Martinez(as far as height)and Pac dealt with it just fine why can't he deal with Martinez the same way??

Pac has weighed less then all his last five opponents I believe with exception of maybe one of umm(I think it was Hoya)this is a very weak excuse imo he has been the smaller man for the past two or three yrs..He has been coming up in weight,if Pac Martinez don't happen it has nothing to do with size but it has everything to do with Martinez's style and the danger he presents..
