Remember, Roy even had HBO on a find me an opponent then stretch when it seemed like he was just whoopin nobodies.

Not Jr's fault he was so Super ppl ran.
So you move higher up a list if people supposedly ducked you?

    The Paul Williams theory.

How many fighters currently fighting or retired in the last 20+ years have prime ATGs (plural) on their resume? You know you can count them on 1 hand right? How about a fighter of Jones' caliber virtually winning their first 50 fights? How about winning a piece of the HW title and then dropping back down to recapture the LHW title. That wasn't done in over 100 years.

These are great boxing feats. The avoids enhance it when you look back.

And this wasn't some crafty undefeated bizness like Chaves' Floyd's or Joe's. This was a real man's fighter, fighting the best competition he could.

No way to say for certain. The 2 losses in 04 damaged his reputation, but after that nothing else mattered. The man was officially done.

It shouldn't tarnish everything that happened previously though. Jones now has a rep he was always chinny for instance. It's bogus when he took punches from 154 to HW.

He was scared to death of slaps at the end of his career. He was just shot. Nothing more.

No they dont. The fact that he didnt fight some of the best fighters around hurts his legacy, it doesnt enchance it. No matter who you believe ducked who.

Jones is Top 25. Not much changes that.

There's only 1 fighter he would have been considered challenged against in Benn. That's it. Where's this loooong list of ppl Jones avoided? It's bs.

2 names to come up with at most. Not impressed. And he'd win when historians would match him up to just about all these ducks, so yea.

In the end, who you didn't fight doesn't matter. Who you did, does. Jones missed some opportunities but everyone does. He also hit on some great opportunities as well and that's why he has an ATG resume.

Top 10/20 if not embarrassed at the end. Sticking to it, that that's how he would've been perceived by the boxing media.

It doesnt really matter who you personally consider a challenge. Give me 10 names on Jones resume and I could replace them with 10 significantly better ones.
