If Rjjr retired after Tarver I

Since a lot of boxing fans on here have very different opinions on what could have been had Roy Jones retired when he should have after the Tarver I fight, I decided to make a poll to make it semi-official.

So, please vote and give an opinion as to why you chose what you did.

    Thanks, poll to follow.

I think he would've gotten crap for it only because didn't a certain amount of people think that the fight was pretty close?

Its a shame how Tarver hates RJJ's to this day eventho he defeated him twice.

A big question I wonder is, how would the first fight go if Roy Jones has more time to lose weight and didn't have to suffer weight control?

Tarver knows he would have never beaten Roy in his prime and actually lost to him even when it was obvious Roy wasn't the same beast he was prior to moving up to heavyweight. Jelousy breeds hate.

To answer the last part, Roy was done when he moved up. His heart was not in it when he accomplished his ultimate goal. Winning a piece of the hvwt title. It was just a coincidence that his body was never the same either if you ask me.

i actually would have preferred that he retired right after the Ruiz fight...go out on top with an accomplishment like that

some people would have and still do, to this day, critique and say 'why didnt he go after a real HW champ...why not Lennox?'

but that would have faded off...and the only thing people would remember is that he was a phenomenal fighter...a MW who rarely lost a round in his prime and he topped it off by becoming a HW champ/title holder

it wouldn't even take 5 years after that kind of retirement for the legend of Roy to grow into mythical proportions...hell, its that same faded aura that STILL sells his fights now

Oh yea good point. Funny how he didn't say crap when Hopkins owned him and i bet he then realized how weight control can really hurt you. Then again, based on styles...Hopkins probably would've defeated Tarver anyhow even without the weight issue.

The truth! Hell, Johnson wouldn't had beaten a prime RJJ either.

He was exposed as Glass Jaw. If I'd rate him in TOP 50 that would be TOP 50 Glass Jaws. Glen Johnson exposed him as a boxers without skills and who can't handle pressure.

Johnson would've beaten the shit out of any RJJ version, MW or HW. He would've put pressure and KTFO him in late rounds, if not win by points.

Roy Jones would be remembered as he is now. A very talented fighter that avoided the toughest challenges because he was afraid of losing.
