It's funny how much more favorably we'd look at Calzaghe's career if he fought RJJ then Hopkins instead of the other way around.

I like Calzaghe but it was a meaningless win. Perhaps it hurt being he couldn't knock a shot Jones Jr. out.

He carried Roy for the last few rounds. People complain about the showboating but it was probably a good thing for Roy.

Hopkins is proven still at the top p4p level a few years on.

Yet he couldn't beat an even more past it Roy by a bigger margin than Calzaghe did.

It's not the win itself, it's the performance. Pick a loss of Roy's where he lost so many rounds and by such a big margin. Doesn't exist.

          Past it, yes, though.

RJJ was shot when Tarver and Johnson KOed him.

He was beyond shot when Calzaghe beat him. Calzaghe even said all this in his book.

uhhh you forgot calzaghe was no spring chicken himself and didn't even train for the fight because his hands were so busted.

And Calzaghe couldn't beat an old Hopkins as dominantly as Roy beat a young Hopkins.

You can't take everyone seriously here, Drew.

What amazed me is that when I ran a poll here c.55% of people backed Roy. When I diplomatically questioned this post-bout they said "we were voting with our hearts." wtf???? I don't give a **** about your heart, who's gonna win?

To my mind this was a pure showcase fight, not many steps up from the Manfredo bout. Roy can still look good against C and B grade fighters, but at the highest level the guy is completely and utterly done, and has been for a long, long time.

As far as I was concerned, all Slapsie had to do was turn up. The only surprise for me was that he was nearly KO'd in the first. I didn't expect it to be remotely competitive, and for most of the rounds it wasn't. Roy is done, done, done.
