Calzaghe's own words betray him. Payday bout, terrible legacy-wise.

          3- nothing special

I take nothing away from calzaghe...i think hes a great and would have given jones or b-hop alot of trouble in their primes....

But the fact is jones wasnt in his prime...or anywhere near it....

It was a good performance from joe...but the fight itself was nothing special...

I think that's very fair.. But several things stand out.

            - You can give him an A on performance, but that could still equal an utter dud in terms of adding to his resume.

            - Is that really the sort of fight to end your career on? It sort of suggests Calzaghe considered that bout memorable or note worthy..

            - A shot to **** RJJ knocking him down in the first round is a real blemish on the performance, and if anything a possible indicator of how a more game RJJ could have delivered.

In defense of Calzaghe against my point, a bout with an ATG at MSG sounds great on paper.

I was at the fight, my first time in skybox. Still had a great time.. In further defense of Joe Calzaghe, he could not have known RJJ would go onto put on a dud against Hopkins and get KTFO by Danny Green. However, when you let someone age like fine wine that is the risk you take..

You can block the fight out Mak, but this event got a 24/7.. Posters all over the subways in NYC. Looking back, Calzaghe doing his shoulder shuffle at a handcuffed frightened RJJ was kind of weak..
