Froch is a great example why resume is so important

We're not talking about the boxing per se, we're talking about the culture here.
Both the US and the UK have to manufacture boxing stars, but the US and UK markets are nuanced. You 2 guys clearly don't understand the nuances of the UK market; not all Americans are as obtuse, or pretend to know as much about the culture here, as Pullcounter and studentofthegam.
"So much TV time"? Really?
Do expound. Tell me about all this TV time and huge UK backing he's received. In fact, tell all the UK based posters here, because we haven't seen it.
This is the UK, you ultramaroon, we're talking about the potential domestic fanbase, we don't get Showtime. Froch's fights since '09 have been shown on a crappy little PPV sports/porno channel (which wasn't even made available through all providers) with almost zero promotional push.
So dumb.
^^ This right here tells me you have no idea about what Khan's appeal is or ever was to the UK public.
Goodness, the dumbness is staggering.Comment

You don't have to be as big of a star as Hatton, few are.
And I said it already, potential can be missed but it doesn't mean that potential didn't exist in the first place.; this is the minor tragedy -- that is, minor next to children dying in the world and Israel being allowed to perpetrate atrocities against innocent people -- we're discussing. All the British based posters here are in agreement on Froch's domestic star potential and that it was overlooked by shorthsighted people who didn't have a finger on the pulse. Forget Hatton, Khan and Haye for a moment and look at the way Eubank and Benn were carefully built up in public view for a clue at what we're talking about. A different era, but that blueprint is still relevant - it's just whether or not the foresight is there to tap into the potential.
BTW, you're citing coverage of froch's fights US TV networks in a conversation about the lack of domestic promotional push behind his brand in the last 2 years. That says it all about how 'in' this discussion you are.Comment

Ok thats a good point. You dont have Showtime. But you did apparently have an option as to watching the fight. Youre talking about his exposure as a die hard fan and you wont even put in the effort to support the cause youre arguing for. If you are the unsilent majority of his fan base then it isnt Sky thats to blame. Its you and Froch. I would pay to see one of my favorites. Its not like theyre running commercials for Amir Khan and Hatton over here but they had no problem being stars in the UK and abroad. Stop dodging the fact that Sky not supporting Froch has to do with who he is. And now its been brought to light that his "road dogs" wont ride for him. hmmm
Sky is THE leading and pretty much only major sports channel in the UK.
How is it us and Froch who's to blame and not Sky? Sky are the people who put the promotion into the fighters.
Well they are running a hell of a lot of commercials for Khan and Hatton here for every fight they have or had Sky (as i statednwho are the leading and pretty much only major sports channel that the mass audience have access too) put 100% backing and promotion into them, thus why they are so popular.
But Sky not supporting him does have to do with who he is, where are you getting lost? Had Froch been in Hatton or Khan's position or even beside them, he would most definitely have a larger following here, that is unquestionable.Comment

My point is that you act as if its some kinda travisty. He's just not that guy. Its like me arguing that Hagler should have been as big a star as Hearns or Leonard. I cant. He just wasnt that guy like Froch is not that guy. Get over the ****.Comment

BTW, I couldn't support the cause. My provider, ****** Media, didn't carry the channel.
^^ Get it now? Thanks for proving my point.
Well. Now that's said. Actually, I *did* support, by buying the fight online (my only option).
But that still doesn't change the fact that Primetime is an obscure, small-time channel that offered Carl's fights next to no promotional push. The kind of affair that only a guy who reads a boxing forum (me) would have been aware of for the most part.
Now it's our fault because we're not riding out on Froch. That's why we read boxing forums, pay for streams of his fights and are here arguing his cause into the early hours with dunce-cap wearers.

It is a personal travesty for Froch himself that hes taken on a series of fights that almost unprecedented, yet he gets no attention. Theres no doubt in my mind he'd be a bigger star with Skys backing.Comment
