You mean the 40 pound overweight (read FAT) Samuel Peter who is slightly shorter with a slightly less reach? You mean that guy: the guy who can barely move because he is so bloated; Who has no endurance; You mean that guy is going to be a major problem to Ali?

I think Samuel Peter would have a MUCH better chance if he trimmed himself down to 210-215 - but at 250 he would just be lumbering punching bag. (IMO)

Ya, but then Bruce Lee (a good buddy of Ali's ) would come around and put a righteous

One: Peter is a big solid dude. He could eat Ali's punches like he eats skittles. He would never be fazed by any shots, while his punches could hurt Ali. I don't think he'd knock Ali out, but he could certainly hurt him and maybe even out him down. Frazier could, so I'm sure peter could if he landed his left hook too. His size and power are pretty crazy for that smaller era, so its very possible that he could overwhelm Ali with his brute strength, power and size.

Two: while some people laugh at Peters skills, he's not nearly as bad as a lot make out. He was skilled enough to drop Wlad numerous times. Ali didn't have great defense. Speed, jab, good defense, but he could certainly be hit and Peter would hit him, quite a lot.

I just think the conditioning of Peter would play a factor too. Whilst he might have sometimes come in big, when he was at his best, he had great stamina and kept his power all fight which I think would trouble Ali.

Peter wasn't as fast as Frazier and maybe not as skilled, though it could be argued he was very close, but he was a bigger, hit harder, had a similar great left hook, more power and the same determined style that troubled Ali.

I could see Ali having success early, while taking some big shots still, then as his legs tire, Peter starts to land his big shots more often, just like what happened to Ali in some fights, and then maybe he'd just get hurt late and Peter take over due to his size, power and underrated offensive skills.

Good, hard fight though. Would be one of Ali's epic ones.
Bro I think you are forgetting just how crude and lumbering peter is, and how fast and light footed Ali was. We are talking two different classes of fighter here, one who is much, much faster and also who has the chin to ride out any rough moments if he does get caught. Ali might get put down, but he gets up every time and recovers quickly.

I honestly cannot see another outcome than Peter brutally KO'ing Ali.

It's too bad we can't make fantasy fights because I don't see Peter winning many (if any) rounds. I think Ali has the speed to tee off on Peter w/o Peter able to close the gap. Ali has the chin to take the odd shot here and there.

And while I think Ali would win on points if Peter tried his all to win via KO he might very well be TKOed by exhaustion in the later rounds.

Sam Peter is proof that is simply not the case.

Would be up there with Frazier, Foreman, Liston, etc as a great fight. However, I see it also being next to Spinks, Frazier, Holmes, Norton etc as a loss for Ali.
I don't care if the film was black and white, blue and orange, or gay pride flag-colored. Ali was more skilled, faster, better conditioned, more savvy, had a better jab, had greater footwork, and had better opposition than Peter.

Seriously? Peter's only good win was against a great middleweight.

the fact that there is 16 people that think Sam Peter can do what a PRIME George Foreman, Prime Joe Frazier, Prime Ken Norton and even what Sonny Liston and so many others couldn't do, Upsets me so much.

Well, I think you might be overrating his ability to take a shot from today's heavyweights. Peter was a well conditioned 260 pounds and was a massive, skilled power puncher. People forget how slick Toney was, and Peter annihilated him. We all know how good Wlad is, and Peter nearly KHTFO!

He had underrated speed and the ability to set up power combos like few did in the 60's. Do you remember the combos he was landing on the 6'6" Wlad? They were pretty beastly. Dropped him a few times, so I can definitely see Ali getting hurt too.

Just because he was in black and white doesn't mean he was invincible. He never fought someone quite like Peter.

It'd be a tough fight for both, but I think Peter would just manage to wear down Ali Frazier style, but with the extra size, power and skill that he possesses he might even be able to hurt/drop/stop him, as Frazier couldn't.
