The Ranging Bull was voted as movie of the decade in the 80's for the acting.

I guess Antonio Tarver has a chance since he beat Rocky in the last movie

come on Stallone made 6 rocky movies. Its not like its just 1 movie and done. His movies is kind of like what real boxers go through.
1 movie- Hungry to win the title. Fought his heart out and many think he should of won
2 movie- wants another crack but wife says he shouldn't, starts blowing all his money on material objects and really has to fight again. Hungry again and wins title
3 movie- Fame gets to his head but he fighting good fighters but none of them are great. Then number 1 contender Clubber Lang comes and is hungry to win that title. Rocky isn't and gets smoked in 2. New trainer *old one dies* then learns how to box better and move his fight with apollo creed *fighter he fought in the other movies* rematches Lang and beats him in 3.
4 movie- Top Russian Prospect comes to america and challenges fighters. Fights apollo creed i think he was 4 years out of retirement and beats him to death. Rocky Trains his ass off and fights for Apollo in Russia. Russian was on steriods/hgh. Wins by last round knockout
5 movie- cant fight no more and starts training at the gym. Kid comes in that has a lot of skill but nobody to discipline it *tommy gunn* gets rocky to train him. Rocky wants to bring him up slow and steady. Fame starts getting to Tommys head and he cuts Rocky as his trainers and goes to the big money promoter who doesn't care bout him, but just the money. Try to get Rocky to fight him for a super fight but rocky refuses. they fight in the street and when rocky gets hit he is having Flashbacks from when Drago his him. Rocky ends up winning.
Rocky Balboa- Wants to put on the gloves again at old age (like other boxers chavez, Duran, RObinson, Ali, etc.) just one more time. They give him a exhibition match against the champ and champ beat him barely. ROcky leave the tunnel satisified.

So alot of things that happen in the movies happen in real life. Im not saying that he belongs in the Hall, but He was put together a masterpiece of movies about boxing. THe fight scenes are more hollywood and more exaggerated then real fights, but outside the ring is real deal things fighters go through.

Actually light flyweights Michael "Manitas De Piedras" Carbajal vs Humberto "La Chiquita" Gonzales were already making 7 digits of $$$$$ on their paycheck in 1993, a year before Hamed won his 1st world title.. So if anything, these 2(Carbajal & Gonzales) were the 1's who paved the way to big money in the lower weight classes!!!

Under the Non- Participant category, why not? There have been better boxing films, but none that popularised the sport as much as the Rocky series. This is the IBHoF's definition of the category:

Non- Participant (Those who have made contributions to the sport apart from roles as boxers or observers. Based upon a candidates' achievements and contributions in their particular field)
I don't see anything wrong at all with the writer of the most influential and popular boxing film of all time, which certainly popularised the sport, qualifying under this category.

Most influential maybe, most popular maybe, but far from being the greatest. It's far from even being the greatest boxing movie of all time, never mind the greatest sports movie (for instance, Raging Bull was infinitely better). But it's HoF-worthy because it popularised the sport like no other film.

If some actor decides to do a couple movies & play the roll of some great ficticious baseball player or basket ball ect.ect ¿Do u actually think he would deserve a spot in that particular sports hall of fame? HELL NO!!! That's ridicules!! Stallone could have made 10 movies(increadible HE MIGHT!), they ALL SUCK!!!!! & even if they were goood or great, THAT SHOULD NOT EARN HIM A SPOT IN ANY BOXING HALL OF FAME!!! Oscar's & Golden globe's & what ever else movie actors get should be good enough!!! Like I mentioned in the comment I posted before, There ARE REAL EXFIGHTERS THAT DESERVE TO BE IN THE HALL OF FAME NOW & AREN'T THERE YET!!! & this chump who's NO TALLER than Duran(in the 1st movie Duran was Rocky's(Stallone) sparring partner & looked taller) & for playing the roll of a FAKE-ASS HEAVYWEIGHT, he get a spot in the hall of fame!! THAT'S BULL S H I T!!!

He got it for writing the films not for acting in them. And he got into the Non-participant category, so I don't see what your beef is. The films popularised the sport, and that's what the Non-participant category is all about. They were not great films artistically, in fact the first one was the only decent one, and even that one was very one-dimensional - but that's besides the point. The point is that he popularised the sport, and that's what the category he was inducted under is all about.

For Rocky and The Contender series.

I guess I can accept that.

I really don't understand why Tszyu is a slam dunk first ballot HOF but Hamed is not. Look at their careers and you can argue Hamed's was more impressive.

glad he is still being given his spot
thankfully, Tszyu stayed retired, which was surprising
this was the 5th year so we wondered if he would get his spot
surprised Chavez didn't get in sooner
                      great HOF class, but Stallone?
get Mr T and Weathers in too
this was the first year of ellegibillity for chavez
