Pacquiao not only ranked higher P4P than Mayweather, now ranked higher at 147 too....

The Cotto-Clottey fight was close and difficult to score, and could validly have gone either way. It it was certainly not a gift decision, although one of the scorecards was ridiculously wide. And considering that Cotto was blind in one eye for half the fight, he did extremely well.
There are arguments that Mosley should have been ranked #1 at that time, and there are arguments that Pac should. I don't have a problem with either point of view. But anyone who says that either of those fighters didn't have a strong case to be considered #1 at that time is just being ridiculous. They both did, and which you choose to pick is just your personal opinion.Last edited by Dave Rado; 11-17-2010, 03:32 PM.Comment

Mosley destroyed an under-trained Marg, who was not focussed on the fight because he'd just got caught cheating, and in any case styles make fights, and the fact that he's better than Marg doesn't mean he could beat Pac.

where was shane ranked when manny fought cotto?Comment

we all know floyd should be the #1 ww, regardless of what u think of him or what u think of manny. fighting mosely at ww counts for more than fighting clottey at ww and fighting margarito at catchweight 150 combined. margarito isnt even ranked in a weight class and the inactivity excuse makes no sense whatsoever. floyd fought 2x within a 12 month period and so did manny.
but whatever. u guys wanna start another *******/***** war...have at it. these are the facts tho. all bias aside, ring is making an ass of itself once again.Comment

That's a ridiculous argument. Cotto had easily the best Welterweight resume of any Welterweight at that time, including Mosley. Who he fought when he won the belt is completely irrelevant. Alphabet belts are pretty meaningless in any case. Who he fought at Welterweight is the only thing that matters, and he'd fought more top Welterweights by far than any other Welterweight at that time, and prior to the Pac fight, had beaten all but one of them, including beating Mosley.Comment

He weighed at 144½, well under the Welterweight limit. Obviously that win, in which he was a Welterweight fighting a Jr Middleweight is going to enhance his standing as a Welterweight.Comment
