No, he had just beaten Clottey, who was ranked #3 by The Ring coming into that fight. That made the Jennings fight completely irrelevant.

most people thought clottey won and even the people that thought miguel won thought miguel won because clottey basically let him win by not really fighting the last 3 rounds and quintanna had just got a lil buzz about him for beating a prospect in joel julio and after he fought julio he fought cotto so for the most part no one knew quintanna until he beat julio

No, The Ring said at the time that either fighter could have an argument for the #1 spot.

a guy who just fought his second fight this year...ranked higher than a guy on an indefinite vacation.

yeah. that pretty much makes sense.

no, i'm talking about right now. I don't agree with a fighter rising in rank in a division without even fighting in the division.

There is no way manny should have risen in the ranks at welter when he didn't fight at welter and the guy he was fighting was margarito.

Meanwhile floyd has not lost and beat the #1 welter or who should have been the #1 in a whitewash. That makes no sense to me.

that's even worst..lol. Beat cotto and then go and beat the guy cotto just beat. C'mon man, lets be serious!

If manny went and fought shane and beat him, then i would agree but that's not what happened.

You said before that he shouldn't be ranked at all because he'd never fought at Welterweight. You seem to have changed your tune now. If he had never fought at Welterweight, he wouldn't be ranked at Welterweight.

But he wouldn't have risen in rank if it hadn't been for the facts that:

                      1) The Ring considered and still consider Floyd and Pac to be more or less joint #1s, so a very small change in circumstances can cause them to switch positions.

                      2) He fought that fight as a Welterweight; and beating a given fighter when you're a Welterweight and your opponent is a Jnr Middleweight is obviously more impressive than beating the same fighter when you both weigh under 147.
