To the TS: honestly there is no legit answer to your question, you know why?
...Coz the problem is deep rooted!
Scumbag Arum chooses who Pacquiao faces
Pacquiao always says "it's up to my promoter who I'll fight"
Normal logic states scumbag Bob works for Pacquiao
Pacquiao maintains scumbag chooses who to fight
Clearly all of these are contradicting each other...
Now, to my amusement and thought, why are all of you peeps squeezing the pacfans of answers that you know all too well the answer, and to fit your own agenda? Why are you guys acting and pressing as if it's the fan's fault that Pacquiao faced those fighters on his resume?
To the threadstater, who's ALT are you? Coz your thread is verrrrryyyyy original....
Pacquiao can take fighters only one at a time at the rate of 2-3 per year. He can't possibly take on all comers.
This.
And again, who was Pacquiao SUPPOSED to fight, from
JW all the way to Clottey? David Diaz was still a titlist,
and a heck of a 'tuneup' first time for Pac at the weight.
I've already noted that the other champs turned out to
be not much better than Diaz.
Should Pac have turned down Oscar?
Should Pac have turned down Ricky? Immediately after,
with Floyd unretired, should Pac NOT have chased
Mayweather up into WW?
Could Pac have fought Mayweather at all in 2009, or
did Mayweather's delay vs. JMM rule that out?
Mosley, Cotto and Margarito were the three top WW
at the time, each holding a W and a L in technically
a round-robin between them.
Who should Pac have fought, with Cotto just beaten,
Margarito suspended, Mayweather huffed up, and with
Mosley signed to fight Berto? Was Clottey not in the
next best tier of challenges? It turned out a POS fight,
but if Pac had fought the other names sounded out on
THIS forum, and available at the time (Yuri Foreman,
or Vaca de caca), we'd have REALLY been calling for
Arum's head on a pike.
NSB only started talking about Martinez and PWill as
possible Pac opponents after Pac beat Cotto, it would
have been insane to consider anytime before that.
Heck, it's still a little crazy even now.
The year before THAT (in 2008), any talk of Pac versus
Cotto or Margarito was automatically subject to ridicule
as idiotic fantasy mismatching.
We can criticize Team Pac for a lot of things, most
especially for using special weight stipulations to try to
weaken opponents, but Pac's not the cherrypicker that
you're alleging, not any more than other top boxers.
I don't see that much wrong with pacman's competition.
Oscar was a money fight but remember he had pushed floyd for 8 rounds a couple of fights before and was much bigger than pacman
Hatton was the no.1 140lber
Cotto was (and is) a top WW fighter, and a much better opponent than any of those 140-7lb contenders like bradley alexander or berto
clottey was more of a stay busy fight, but he's a better fighter than the three in the last para too IMO.
Margarito is a bit of a dodgy one, and the catchweight thing annoys me no end. But I don't have too much criticism for pacman's competition in the last 2-3 years. Better opposition than Floyd esp given Floyd's inactivity.
What's good peeps? I'm new to the scene, I enjoy seeing some of the opinions on the board so now I've decided to post myself. Let me start by saying first and foremost I'm a huge boxing fan as well as a Floyd Mayweather fan, yes u can actually be both Anyway, I think that Floyd deserves some crticism, but he takes WAY 2 much IMO, and I'm not talking about his legal issues, nobody who wasn't involved really knows what went down. I'm talking about what goes down strictly in the ring, particularly as far as oppostion.
Manny Pacquiao is a tremendous fighter, probably the best offensive fighter in the sport 2day. However, his competition since his move up to welterweight leaves a lot to be desired. Manny has fought Oscar (busted up by freaking Steve Forbes previous fight), Ricky Hatton (badly koncked out by Floyd before fighting Manny), Miguel Cotto (took savage beating by Margarito before fighting Manny), Joshua Clottey (who just lost to Cotto before fighting Manny), and now he's fighting Margarito (who just took a massive ass whoopin from Shane). Hmmmmmm.....it seems there's a pattern here. How the hell can anybody say Pacquiao has faced top competition as of late? This is an absolute joke
People bash Floyd's competition, but Manny's aint any better. Why does he continue to fight slow come forward battered fighters with limited boxing skills? Why the hell doesn't Manny just fight JMM again? I don't care what weight the fight is at, they have unfinished business, everybody knows Pacman vs. JMM 3 would be an extremely lucrative bout. If Manny can spark JMM out so quickly at the higher weights he should just prove it. At least Floyd manned up and proved he could beat Castillo decisively. There are other legit fights out there for Manny such as Berto, the winner of Alexnder vs. Bradley, the winner of Martinez vs Williams, hell even Amir Khan (if he gets past Maidana). I'm sick and tired of Manny being praised for fighting fighters coming off SEVERE ass whoppins. Manny should stop hiding behind Roach and Arum and fight some legitimate competition, whether he fights Floyd or not. Now he's prolly gonna fight Mosley next or Cotto Why do so many of u choose to ignore the facts and heap all this praise on Manny? This is a legitimate question that I want legitimate answers to........
Actually, blame Floyd jr. for that.
Both Pac and Roach already stated their desire to fight Floyd, yet all floyd's been doing is throwing roadblocks to that fight.
IF FLOYD ACCEPTED TO FIGHT PAC, you wouldn't have to ask your question.
Unfortunately for all of us, as soon as Pac agreed to full OST UP TO THE FIGHT NIGHT, floyd was nowhere to be seen.
And don't tell me about the non-negotiation BS. Arum and Co have been harping about the negotiations for WEEKS, yet we heard not a single word from floyd. Where did he go on a vacation at that time.... Mars?

A lot of people are sold enough to say that Pac doesn't fight anyone coming off an impressive win or two, and I can't blame those people since it's obvious.
But that would've been rectified only if Floyd accepted the fight at the last negotiations but instead didn't and went on vacation.
and I just LOL hard when no-brain stans act as if the fans are at fault that Pac fought these mofos, whereas the reason why and the problem lies in the dirty world of boxing business.
That makes sense, only the difference is all that crap he says doesn't diminish his accomplishments, and all the nice happy polite things Pacquiao says, doesn't wipe away the black marks on his career.
That's a plain fact.
If Floyd all of a sudden made a 180 and becomes the nicer of the 2 and Pac becomes a jerk. It won't hide the fact that Mosley's old and almost shot, He should have lost to Castillo the first time... Same with Pac, his niceness doesn't erase the fact that he not only should have lost to Marquez, but fought him again after robbing him. It's only the right thing to do. It doesn't hide the fact he made Cotto fight him at a catchweight. U can make all the excuses in the world why catchweights aren't that bad, but there is still a black mark.
Its also a proven fact that the more successful you get, the more haters you attract.
Both Pac and Floyd have their share of haters who downplay their accomplishments and do their best to magnify their failures. I won't argue with you of the points you raised since they're all relative and you're entitled to your opinions.
But my point is that Floyd gets more venom and hate thrown at him because of his racist and ****phobic statements and his penchant for drawing out the race card whenever it suits him.
No matter how accomplished you are or how much talent you have, it won't stop people from hating on you if you keep on going out of your way to offend people.
Let me put it to you this way. Do you think Michael Jordan would have the same kind of respect he has from fans if he talked like any of the mayweathers?
People would still respect him for his skills, but he'd also get a lot of flack for badmouthing people.
pac took on all comers that were available. he took challenges that a lot of boxing experts said he would lose to. all the arguments about pac not being able to take a real welterweight punch and so forth. i remember the arguments that he wouldn't be able to take david diaz's punches because he's a real lightweight, lmaooooooooo!
when he proved he could take some punches and beat real welterweights, the haters just said pac's opponents were coming off lackluster performances against nobodies anyways.
he's on top so haters are gonna hate. haters say pac doesn't take on all comers, but there just jealous because they take on all cummers in the mouth for money, bwahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!

Actually, its ENTIRELY Floyd's fault in this case.
Time and again Floyd claims to be his own boss. So in this case, he has no one else to blame for the failure of the fight to happen but himself.
Pac was willing.
Roach was willing.
BOTH Golden Boy AND Top Rank would have earned big time from Pac's earnings since he's actually under contract from both companies.
And floyd could have simply said to Arum STFU and went on an accepted the fight with Pac.
