Vitali gives any Heavyweight from any rea a good fight. Idk if he wins or loses though. Wladimir on the other hand would get knockedout by Tyson, Holyfield, Ali, Foreman.

I agree that it's only fair to Vitali to rank him 'up there'.
You could in fact argue that he's never been 'bested' and is still undefeated.
I would take Briggs' claims that he's better than Lewis/Foreman with a pinch of salt though. Lewis bounced Briggs all over the place early doors and Foreman would've taken that dreadlocked head off it's shoulders had George had the speed and athleticism to catch Briggs as often as Vitali.
Briggs had the punching power to be a danger but, like Tyson in the later stages of his career, Briggs was too broad and tightly muscled to have either the upper body movement to avoid Klitschko's shots or the speed to land any subtle bombs.Comment

And common sense should always tell you that Vitali wouldn't have won more rounds than LL with one eye, impossible. And LL was going to knock him out anyway.Common sense tells you the cut on Vitalis face was unfortunate and cant be used to say how more better LL is than Vitali. If it went to 12 rounds and Vitali was badly cut, the judges dont score the fight on how badly cut you are , and hold it against you! Vitali would have won on the judges scoresheet.
I remember LL versus Bruno and i always remember how Bruno was outclassing LL before tiring. It showed me LL limitations becase bruno of all people outjabbing LL. Someone as ponderous as frank.
But im a brit and should be sticking up for LL. I dont know why i havent warmed to LL. He was a nice guy but for some reason i never wanted him to win and i feel guilty about that.Comment

You seem to suffer from the same affliction that most observers of Lewis suffer from. He's always losing, until he wins. He was losing against Briggs, until he won. He was losing against Bruno, until he won. He was losing against Klitschko, until he won. Yadda yadda yadda.Common sense tells you the cut on Vitalis face was unfortunate and cant be used to say how more better LL is than Vitali. Lennox Lewis is an ATG and always found a way to win. He was exciting to watch when he wasn't unlucky enough to be sharing the ring with spoilers like Akinwande. His fights were frequently action packed and enthralling, and he had this deceptive vulnerability that made many people question whether he was legitimate, even as late as the end of his career.
Against Briggs, he was never out on his feet, as some people in this thread are claiming. I suggest to them to go and watch the fight again, and - some illegal rabbit punches aside, leading him to hold on in round 1 - see how hurt Lewis really is at any point in the fight. Not much, really. Off balance, yes. Stunned by the occasional heavy shot, yes. Hurt? Not badly, not even close to being "out on his feet". He always had his guard up, was rolling shots, or on the single occasion he was a bit hurt, to hold on. By the 4th round Lewis has lost all respect for Briggs' power and is trading with him to devastating effect. Despite this the commentators constantly degrade Lewis, which certainly adds to the "vulnerable" image most people seem to have of him.
Against Klitschko, Lewis gave him his toughest fight ever. The cuts were not fortunate. Lewis bust open his face. Nobody stood in front of Vitali and smashed him up like Lewis did. Nobody. That is why Lewis is an ATG, because you take a fighter as tough, methodical, and brutal as Vitali Klitschko, and Lewis stands in front of him, takes his best shots, and hurts him badly, and wins. That was prime Vitali, and faded Lewis too. The Lewis who destroyed Briggs would not have taken as many heavy shots as he did at 37 against Vitali.Comment

Totally agree. That fight was going in one direction. Those uppercuts were frightening. Since all cuts were caused by heavy punches, it is hard to consider the cuts to be anything other than part of the victory and take nothing away from Lewis' performance. The stoppage saved Vitali's eye, saved his health, and probably saved him a stay in the hospital and meant he's still in impeccable condition today rather than punch drunk like Briggs.Comment

Why should he have given him a rematch? To satisfy idle fans like ourselves?LL should have given Vitali a rematch. LL said he only had 11 days to train for vitali. LL should have shown how badly he would outclass Vitali if he was to prepare properly, and he didnt.
Of all the times he could have retired in his career, afte Vitali probably wasnt the ideal time, with unfinished business.
He was old and getting older. Vitali was in his prime. I don't think Lewis had the hunger any more that was needed to go to camp and get himself into top condition. Add to that, as you get older, your health becomes more prominent in your thinking, and Lewis probably reflected on how tough the Klitschko fight was and decided he had proven enough to the world and didn't want to damage his health further.
He would probably have won, in my opinion, but at what cost? Getting punched hard in the head - as hard as Lewis and Klitschko punch - is not good for your brain.Comment

I agree that at this time, a fight against Lennox would be more compatable. Vitaly would KO Lennox IMO. But I can't agree with Foreman. He fought the senior citizen version of George.SHANNON BRIGGS was still in hospital last night with horrific facial injuries after taking a beating from WBC heavyweight champ Vitali Klitschko.
