I just rewatched Cotto-Margarito

it was a brutal fight. Marg was tagging Cotto since the third round. They had a ****ty ****ing game plan. They thought "this guy throws a **** load of punches so if u move you will minimize his punch output"
that was pretty ****** because Cotto is not a mover. He is a come forward stalker. He could have outboxed Marg without moving so damn much which is part of the reason he got tired. It was even more ****** to go to the ropes were Marg is a beast at. I think Marg had plaster that night. He wasn't hitting Cotto with as much force as Pacquiao yet he was denting Cotto. Hell some of the punches looked like pitty pat punches if you rewatch the fight yet Cotto was getting hurt by them. It was a brutal fight that I love watching.Comment

3-1 maximum, because that 2nd round was definitely Tony's. So, agreed, but I wouldn't call it domination, because Margarito was putting in some important body-head groundwork. Cotto was winning the rounds, but Margarito was doing work that would benefit him later in the fight while Cotto was doing the eye-catching stuff for the most part.Comment

I think the key point in the figth was in the 5/6 rounds when margarito was catching cotto with ease, due to the fact that cotto was too static, marg capitalised when cotto's movement was poor. Maybe poor stamina.
Howeevr, in the cotto-shane, cotto-judah fights, miguel showed hed got good stamina, but i guess marg is one big guy and would have taken alot out of cotto in the early rounds.Comment

this is what i just said in my previous post. Some of his punches looked like pitty punches with minimal strength yet they were hurting Cotto. Man cheato had plaster in his hands.u cant be serious....
cotto was outboxing the **** out of tony until tony landed that uppercut to his chest in the first round which physically pushed cotto back...cotto started picking his shots after that
did u notice how much force the little punches tony landed seemed to have? cotto has been up against some big guys but that was just unreal...
its one of the reasons panda believes tony probably used plaster that night
this is what he will look like after Pac is done with him

So true. Just reminded me of back in the days when you could see one fighter putting in the rounds but the other doing all the overlooked stuff that would pay dividends later. Granted, that happens often but is so rare in a big fight these days.Comment
