I just rewatched Cotto-Margarito

Foreman, Clottey were post-Margarito so it holds no water on the original argument. Prior to Margarito the only physically "big" opponent Cotto faced was Mosley, not in terms of height, just strong, but at the time Mosley was already considered past prime and Top Rank thought it was an excellent name to add to Cotto's resume.

No other opponent Cotto faced prior to Tony were able to walk him down the way he did, to make him fight going backwards which was something Cotto was never used to doing. There was no cheating that night, just an old fashion ass whooping. Styles makes fights, don't you forget about that.

Also, all of the "big" guys you just mentioned were soft. Guys that could be broken down by Cotto. Torres was not big, he was just a big puncher, Miguel was physically stronger than everyone he fought at 140, his natural weight class was always 147.

cotto was outboxing the **** out of tony until tony landed that uppercut to his chest in the first round which physically pushed cotto back...cotto started picking his shots after that

did u notice how much force the little punches tony landed seemed to have? cotto has been up against some big guys but that was just unreal...

its one of the reasons panda believes tony probably used plaster that night

God.. what a tragedy..

Cotto came in so strong, on top of the world, with absolute confidence that nobody could beat him..

and round after round, i'm seeing Margarito land nothing strong, and nothing worse than cotto has ever seen.. yet, he's starting to break down unlike he ever has before.. his face is starting to tear and swell, and it doesn't make sense..

in the later rounds he just took punch after punch and tried to hang in there, but he was getting pummeled.. until finally he couldn't take anymore.

The great lion that cotto was died that night, and Margarito killed it with those loaded gloves.

I hope manny destroys this guy and forces him into retirement.

As far Mosley pre Margarito and the time he fought Miguel most people thought he wasn't relevant anymore, just a name for Cotto to add to his resume. It was the best move Cotto could have done at the time, which paid off after he won the fight.

Torres is nowhere as physically strong as Cotto, 140 is Torres's real weight class, Cotto was always a welterweight fighting at junior welter at the time.

Id say that cotto dominated the first 4 rounds, landing the bigger shots and uusing the ring better.

my statement wasnt about a specific timeframe bro, it was about margarito's unreal punching power that night. mosley was unproven against the new top 5 WWs but he was still ranked in that category. fast and furious was a 50/50 fight. panda remembers his internet had fallen out and was texting a friend the entire match to get some info on what was happening

because judah hurt cotto bad prior to that fight and mosley was a jittery judah with a great chin and better stamina

again...not talking about physical strength here...

panda's talking about physical size...in which they were the same. torres was scheduled to fight holt for a third time but couldnt make the weight and shortly thereafter retired. no way 140 is torres' real weight class. both him and cotto were huge jwws
