I think mosley pawning margarito was my second best alltime fight. Karma's a biotch and the lowlife got what he deserved. Bloody hand wrap after the cotto fight is proof in my book. After tito showed vargas who was his daddy titos wraps were nice and white. And marg is a biotch for cheating, period.
I just rewatched Cotto-Margarito

when have u seen cotto give up the center of the ring the entire fight and move all night? when have u seen cotto fight at such a high pace?
never.. cotto never expereienced using his legs for 12 rounds or be under pressure for 12 rounds. physical and mental pressure. how can u possibly say he wouldve finished the fight easily had it not been for the plaster?
tony also exposed that cotto has to plant his feet to punch, thats okey when u are the stronger man walking down your oponent but not when your using your legs for defense. and as he stood in front of margarito tony was smart enough to invest to the body which cotto wasnt. cotto also wasted alot of energy trying to hurt tony to the head, he shouldve figured out early that he couldnt do it and either take some steam of is shots to save enegy and avoid getting tagged as much himself or go downstairs with the power. but he didnt.
it was a bad stylistic matchup for cotto that put him in a situation he never faced before, not to mention a plain bad performance on his part. what made cotto a top fighter? his pressure and bodypunching, not only was he the one being pressured in this fight but he didnt go to the body for some reason (arrogance is my only guess). bcuz of this margarito didnt slow down, he also wasnt wasting as much energy by holding the center of the ring and dictating the pace for most of the fight.
cotto said himself he lost bcuz his legs and arms got tired, that doesnt have too much to do with plaster. u could see cotto was facing the type of challenge he never seen before and not approaching it intelligently, kellerman and steward both questioned if he would be able to finish long before margarito turned the fight around. it was easy to see cotto wouldnt be able to finish and it was all bcuz of a bad stylistic matchup and poor strategy. he lost that fight on his own, the plaster "just" made it more brutal.Comment

Cotto actually said he found it impossible to go to the body in the fight. Margarito prepared well not to show any openings.when have u seen cotto give up the center of the ring the entire fight and move all night? when have u seen cotto fight at such a high pace?

This is really sad though, as Cotto had his rightful place at WW taken away. I'm Black, but there's no doubt in my mind he's the best at the weight if the physical and mental effects of the cheater's performance didn't take something out of him.
And Tone went into that fight with the hard shi on his knuckles from round 1. Miguel was the toughest most determined mofo in boxing to be ahead for more than half the fight getting beat on like that. Took 11 rounds of plaster and Manny Pacquiao to crack that chin at 147.Last edited by Haglerwins; 10-16-2010, 06:17 AM.Comment

Man, cheating is fkd up. We probably would've seen Paul Williams get a crack at WW supremacy if this didn't happen too. Miguel would've probably felt unstoppable if he won a fight fair against Marg.Last edited by Haglerwins; 10-16-2010, 06:28 AM.Comment

Cotto always had a problem i spotted (not bragging but i did) back in 2007 when he was the ****. He couldn't fight going back. Cotto either moves, or he punches, he can't do both. Pacquiao also can't fight going back but he can punch and move at the same time, much like Margarito.God.. what a tragedy..
Cotto came in so strong, on top of the world, with absolute confidence that nobody could beat him..
and round after round, i'm seeing Margarito land nothing strong, and nothing worse than cotto has ever seen.. yet, he's starting to break down unlike he ever has before.. his face is starting to tear and swell, and it doesn't make sense..
in the later rounds he just took punch after punch and tried to hang in there, but he was getting pummeled.. until finally he couldn't take anymore.
The great lion that cotto was died that night, and Margarito killed it with those loaded gloves.
I hope manny destroys this guy and forces him into retirement.Comment

Bad preparation more than anything here though. Cotto must've honestly thought he was going to KO Marg. Look at the look on Miguel's face when he hits Tone with his best shot in the early part of the fight.. and Marg's still there.Cotto always had a problem i spotted (not bragging but i did) back in 2007 when he was the ****. He def wasn't tactically ready for the pressure. lol Once Tony walked through his power, he had nothing else to fall back on.Comment
