First off, Marg hit Cotto with plenty of hard shots, he hurt him with a single shot in the 2nd round. So to say Cotto was hit like that before is BS.

    Second, Cotto won rounds 1,3,4,5,6 and 9. Marg won rounds 2, 7, 8, 10 and 11.

It was a brutal fight from the inside out, Marg was hitting Cotto and taking Cotto's shots like they were nothing. In the corner after the 4th round I heard Marg tell his trainer that he was going to KO Cotto, that he couldn't handle the pressure.

He sensed something in Cotto we could see because we weren't in the ring.

I don't know if Marg's gloves were loaded but he sure was taking some incredible shots.

I would never forget that fight, I got the same feeling when i was watching Pacquiao-Cotto, In the Margarito fight you could see him coming back late on against cotto

because judah hurt cotto bad prior to that fight and mosley was a jittery judah with a great chin and better stamina

again...not talking about physical strength here...

panda's talking about physical size...in which they were the same. torres was scheduled to fight holt for a third time but couldnt make the weight and shortly thereafter retired. no way 140 is torres' real weight class. both him and cotto were huge jwws
No idea what you mean by this. There was nothing unreal about his punches, if that was the case then Cotto would of been KTFO earlier. What you saw was an accumulation of power shots that started to the body and ended to the head, textbook boxing, and the perfect strategy by Margarito and his team.

Cotto is left foot heavy and gets hit very dry when they land. He is unable to pivot and turn with the punches. Steward might help him with this problem and he would be able to see the punches comming at him a little better. But if you used illeagal handwraps once more than likely he had used them before. I'm not going to believe that he was so scared of Mosley that it was the only fight the used them in

did u notice how much force the little punches tony landed seemed to have? cotto has been up against some big guys but that was just unreal...

its one of the reasons panda believes tony probably used plaster that night
Actually, that was in the second round. Cotto was on the right side of the ring, got hit with an uppercut and made him fold and then retreat. Margarito smirked, Cotto retreated to the bottom ropes, Margarito bent over, and the two started exchanging, and the war in round 2 broke out.

It's still an amazing fight to watch...

EDIT: It's a shame the fight is now a centerpiece for controversy. I personally don't know what to make of it. On one hand, it's generally assumed that when/if you get doing something wrong, it's usually not the first time, so that's where the su****ion of Margarito using it in the Cotto fight comes in.

On the other hand, Cotto's never had the best defense. When you look at power punches in his fights with Judah, Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, and even Pacquiao...you will see that they never go under 30% (if I'm not mistaken). He eats a lot of them, and when he ducks down to do infighting (earmuffs and bend in), uppercuts hurt more, and that is Margarito's specialty. Margarito doesn't throw punches like a magnum, but he's more akin to a wrecking ball, slowly but surely the damage adds up.

You look at the Pacquiao fight and Cotto looks pretty much the same as he did at the end of the Margarito fight. He isn't cut up as bad as in the Margarito fight, but in terms of swelling, his face doesn't look anything like it did at the start of his fight with Pacquiao.

I hope for boxing's sake we can put this aside and let each fighter take his respective course and hope these types of things don't happen again (handwraps controversy and all that).
