I was at the Cotto-Clottey weigh-in and Cotto hit 146 and was laughing and joking while Clottey was sitting his ass down and downing gallons of Pedialyte. I don't like catchweights but these two, along with Whitaker-Chavez, did not bother me in the lease. Pacquiao-Margarito? Where should I start?
Pac-Margarito everything involved is a joke. There is where I would start. I think it will be entertaining but that doesn't take away from what a joke of that fight getting made.

I agree with the rest. You have to be consistent IMO. There were nothing wrong with those catch-weight. I don't mind this fight. I just don't like people ****tin on P-Will while defending Pac nor ****ting on Pac for Cotto but defending P-Will.

And, funny that you mentioned JCC-Whitaker I haven't even read this post yet when I wrote one to Crillz and also mentioned that catch-weight.

        1. First, there is no confirmationfrom either camp thats it even a catch weight in the first place.

        2. If there is a 157 pound catch weight my guess is that Williams is trying to give off the illusion that he can fight under 160 Pounds still.

        3. Also he was trying to get to 147 Pounds and is nowhere near 160 Pounds right now.

        4. Why would Williams ask for a catch weight that WILL NOT affect Martinez in any way?

Stop overreacting everybody. Larry you said it yourself hes fought at 160 over 15 times. So that right there tells you it has nothing to do with trying to gain some advantage as the NSB trolls are on a mission to prove.
None of the above is anything close to a legit reason for Paul Williams to be fighting at 157 for the middleweight title. If he's trying to get down to 147 or give the illusion that he can, that's his fault and no reason Martinez should be restricted in how he weighs in. So what if Paul was trying to get down to 147? That was a ****** move anyway, and it shouldn't allow him to fight for the middleweight championship at 157.

I know you are a huge Punisher fan, but IF this fight is at a catchweight Paul is being a b*tch and is going to lose even more fans than he already has by dragging this out by trying for a lottery ticket fight against Floyd or Manny.

I meanwhile will enjoy watching this fight sans the BS.

so then you're part of the problem, I'm not bickering nor am I upset I just choose not to support this mockery of Boxing. it's well known that "Jr" divisions and the addition of sub weight classes messed up Boxing already but now we got guys making their own weight classes in title fights now? **** them...

and don't be a ****ing imbecile, at least 97% of this websites forums have no connection or impact on anything that get's done in Boxing/MMA or any other sport we talk about on here but it still doesn't stop us from giving out our opinions, this is the whole point of the forum is to give out opinions amongst each other and talk about Boxing, that's what I'm doing so stop looking for ways to come out and try to attack my opinion..

if you don't have an opinion then just come out and say "I'm a brainless observer with no opinions and I just eat the **** Michael Marley and Dan Rafeal spew in the media and I take no time to make my own opinions after conducting my own research on all the Boxing news, I'll just watch whatever they throw at me because it's not like we have a say anyway" don't come at me for actually having a unique perspective to offer..

I'll lay out my reasoning for the 145 Pac-Cotto debacle.

                1. Cotto goes golfing with Oscar and is threatened that if you dont resign you dont get a pac fight.

                2. Pacquiao says he wants Cotto at 143 Pounds. Not 145. One Hundred, forty three.

                3. Cotto says "**** you" Im fighting at 147. I won my belt at 147.

                4. Pac says well then you wont get the payday.

                5. Cotto says " no wait I need the pay day. If you want to fight me fine but my title wont be on the line unless I can fight at 147.

                6. Pac says nmot good enough.

                7. Cotto says ok 145 but my title cant be on the line.

                8. Suliman creates the Diamond belt slapping Cotto in the face.

                9. Cotto then says **** it "Ill fight at 145 with my belt on the line".

                10. So Pac/Cotto is signed and Pac fights for a Historic record setting 7th title at a catch weight. After that fight Cotto immediatly moves up to 154 pounds.

                You do the ****ing math.

                  Great defense mechanism..tampon..right..

Burner you're a good dude..you're a better radio host than you are a poster..seriously..but if Williams' true goal was to give off the imaginary "illusion" you speak of..nothing says that he can't weigh in at 157lbs!..Mayweather has done it, Pacquiao has done it, etc..

If it's for a linear title shot..get the full credit got it by letting your opponent come at the limit if he chooses to..and if Williams wants to show the world he can make 147 still by coming in lighter..he's got all right to..

So I won't buy in to this whole creating an illusion talk..sorry..

Trying to get to 147 pounds? If thats the case why even fight Martinez for the Middleweight Championship? I mean if you beat him then you are the man at 160 why even think about 147 when that division is crap now besides Mayweather and Pacquiao.

You havet seen anyone from Martinez come out fighting tooth and nail for this to be at 160. You havent seen anyone from Martinez camp asking "why is there a ****ing catchweight? YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT.

So how does this make Paul a bytch. What advantge did he gain over Martinez?
