    good post DK...

losing is so overrated specially here in NSB...

another thing that MOST posters do here is that they give high appraisal to fighters that COULD LIKELY WIN IN A HYPOTHETICAL MATCH-UP against other ATGs... ( things like "are u kidding me? fighter A destroys fighter B prime for prime..." ) sometimes losing sight to actual wins that certain fighter has...

I have to disagree here!!I personally think that Mosley along with DLH were the last truly great welterweights!!Mosley's longevity at 147 was amazing,he touched down & outhustled Oscar in a very close & competitive fight!!(I personally think that both him & Oscar from that fight thoroughly dominates any welterweight right now)!!Then he lost to the huge Forrest left 147 came back,(older mind U) & pushed the younger Cotto to the limit, then dominated & dismantled Margarito while coming in a heavy underdog!!Mosley in his prime was a beast who never ducked fighters,I think the version of Mosley who fought Oscar at 147 gives any welterweight great a close solid fight & would have beaten current Floyd & Pacman rather badly!!

Mosley was a great fighter. A level boxer who tried and fought all the best out there. didnt matter to him whether he would win or lose as long as those best fighters in his era would be in his resume. a first ballot HOF for sure. but its tme to retire. maybe one more fight against Cotto in 154 lbs for another nice payday then quit.

What i like about Shane, is that there is no side to the way he goes about his business, sure he could of strategically picked more suitable opponents, and would probably be seen as a better fighter, but thats what doing stuff like that is worth, it just gives people a false perception of how good you actually are/were, least with Mosley you cant claim he cultivated his reputation by favourable style fighting match ups, he did quite the opposite infact, I respect that, particularly in a sport where styles often dictate the outcome of fights, plus, if you keep stepping in the ring with the very best fighters, eventually you will come up short.

Mosley is HOF bound for who he fought when he fought umm...Hoya very dangerous(Might have been the best version of Hoya) fight when he fought him...Forest very dangerous fight when he fought him and some thought he fought Forest to a draw or won in that sec fight...Fought Winky wright a fighter that could'int buy a fight threw out his career..Was one of the best LW's of all time..Say what you will but all the real talent was fighting at Jr LW and did not want to move up and fight a fighter like Shane Mosley, who had the best KO% in history at the weight...If you say Shane does not belong in the HOF I would say Cotto does not deserve the HOF,Vargas does not deserve the HOF..But that's just not true..Mosley might have seen his better days past him but show some respect to a fighter who never ***** about a bad call or bout losing a fight he has always showed class and heart...Do you think Gatti should be in the HOF I do and if Gatti can get in Mosley will breeze in when his career is over...Learn some respect this is not an easy sport you see the way all these new cats are talking bout money for fights that they should be eager to fight to prove their status in boxing...Mosley was the last of a dying breed that fought the dude you was not suppose to fight..Who wanted to fight Forest,Winky??Who as a champ in those days would have taken that risk??Show Mosley a lil respect and stop talking foolish..

Nah.... The best version of Oscar was 135-140. At 147 was still very good fight but not the best version.

I don't know dude,He just had lost to Tito and was not trying to lose to a guy coming from 135lb..Hoya really wanted both fights with Shane the first one the most IMO..He had something to prove he stood in there and fought Shane for IMO the best WW fight of the era...I see what ya saying and know where ya coming from with your comments but I think Hoya was very dangerous the night of the Mosley fight..He really needed that win..

Well he was dangerous, and since Tito moved up and Quartey was inactive Oscar was the best WW. But, the best version of Oscar never at 147+. The best version of Oscar was at 135/140. And, Oscar pick Shane to fight cuz Shane was a LW who jumped 2 divisions. He saw Shane as the smaller guy and thought it was going to be an easy win.

Anyways. like I said Shane is a sure fire first ballot HOF'er. Hell both Shane and Oscar are first ballot HOF'ers that can't even be debated. However, neither is an ATG.
