Mosley is a only a borderline great fighter to me.

That fight was an exception and even there that fight was close. He's never dominated or knocked out a great opponent and that hurts his legacy in my view.Comment

so mamarito got KO'd by a borderline great fighter?I know I sound like I'm kicking when he's down, but he has just never been able to come through when it mattered. He deserves consideration for the HOF, but that's where it ends. I don't think he's overrated or underrated, but I wouldn't rank him over a lot of the other fellow great fighters that boxed during his era. I think Oscar beat him in the second fight and got robbed. He struggled with guys like Sergio Mora and Raul Marquez. And his resume reads like a who's who of fighters who were good but turned out to be gate keepers at some point.Comment

I hate to pick apart a fighter's resume, because you can do that with almost any fighter really, but for the last 8 years no one has been impressed with Mosley (with the exception of the Margarito fight), but yet boxing fans have a certain fondness for him.Comment

He was a very good fighter but his defense was always bad...in his prime he could get away with it but now it shows up...
He doesn't seem to have the same stamina and we already knew he had problems with boxers...
Bascially, bad style matchup, Shane is OLD, and he doesn't have the reflexes and ability to overcome disadvantages anymore...
But the PED fiasco hurts his legacy...he hasn't beat any elite fighters outside of De La Hoya...and the PEDS cloud over that may be remembered...he has beat a lotta good-very good opponents tho...Comment
