    What about Jermain Taylor?
    Taylor would have no chance.

      1. They're quickly stopped for a fighter's safety.

      2. The judges will score points for ring generalship more often than not.

      3. Fighters have access to endless information in preparation against.

      It's a totally different ballpark.

But like Dynamite Kid stated if you gave the old school fighters adequate preparation and used the modern day techniques we might be having a different discussion. I mean they were accustomed to dealing with massive punishment in order to win fights.

Yes I agree with all of that. But I also thinks its a little bit silly that the older fighters are getting so much hype because the competition wasnt at the level as it is today FOR the most part. Yes there were some crazy fighters but most of the competition would be a subpar Journeyman in todays days.

Nobody would know how fighter X from 1920 would do in todays day, he might be a bum or he might be best fighter we ever seen.

I just dont like the old people on tv glorifying ALL the old fighters like they were the second reincarnation of Jesus. Sure they were talented but the sport has grown and evolved so much since then. The competition and the boxing standards have increased ten fold.

I mean did they even have strict drug testing?

15 Round Arguement: If you train modern boxers FOR 15 rounds then they will go 15 rounds. If you look at Boxings Modern Pace its for the most part much faster than the old days. If you had 15 round fights you would have people training for 15 rounders.

Im sure theres people who can go 15 rounds today without much training. Klitschko/Pacq/Floyd/Segura

Archie Moore was better than Harold Johnson. Do you think Jean Pascal is more skilled than Harold Johnson?

Forget about Archie Moore, Pascal would not stand a chance against Harold even.

Why are you picking Pascal? Is Pascal considered ATG? Theres no way to tell who would WIN and thats the point im making. You are saying that he will win 100%, nope, no way to tell. Boxing has evolved too much to make a statement like that. Its like a caveman coming out into the modern world and trying to run 100m.

You know one of the reasons i think technique/tactics have improved so much? cause its easier to Box your way to a 12 round decision than to a 15, championship rounds are exactly what it says on tin, where the fight goes from being a Boxing match, to a fight, a matter of wills, which is why guys like Arguello were renowned for getting stronger as the fight went on, and scored quite a few last stoppages in those championship rounds.

You dont get it do you? You cant say XX fighter from 19XX will beat fighter XX from 20XX. It doesnt work like that its just a bunch of what ifs and speculation. ALL sports evolve ( for the millionth time im using this word) go read a book about competitive sports and their evolution over time. You cant make ****** guesses like "OH HE WILL BEAT THEM FOR SURE"

He might but he might not.

I was thinking TKO at that point

Also look at 2:55 when he pivots around, amazing footwork.

                      Great points.

Where the TS really fails is that NONE of the current boxers would exist if it werent for fighters of the past. Everybody watched somebody. Everyone incorporated something from someone else style.

Look at Mosley and Kid Gavilan styles.

                      Toney and Mayweather.

                      Vitali and Jack Johnson.
