Wow! that was long........I've never read a post that long.......It was worth reading though because you hit it right on the head! I never understood why so many fans and fighters of boxing just don't get it? I'm a "combat sport" fan. I'm a fighter. I respect all aspects of the fight game. I've sparred with James Toney in the past. He's a beast in the ring. I also wrestled throughout high school and that allowed me a faster learning curve while spending some time training in BJJ. They are all unique combat arts but at the end of the day your only as strong as your weakest link!!! There are some mma fighters that could try straight up boxing with serious training and do well and there are boxers who could do well with training in BJJ and basic wrestling, mostly learning good sprawl tech. but @ the end of the day the courture vs. toney wasnt mma vs. boxing. it was a veteran mma fighter fighting an mma fight against a shell of "lights out toney"...

The only thing that has been proven time and time against is that the vast majority of MMGAY "fighters" have more glass in their jaw than a dining room chandelier.
An old, washed up,out of shape Ray Mercer already proved your theory wrong.Despite not being ranked within his own sport for some twelve to thirteen years, despite suffering from years of serious health issues,he took on top ten ranked MMGAY heavyweight Tim Sylvia. It took Mercer just nine seconds to easily dispose of Sylvia - his most decisive loss of his career.
It was a freak show because Toney is an old,out of shape, washed up,punch drunk that shouldn't even be competiting anymore.

On whether you're an MMGAY fan looking to stir up trouble on a boxing forum? I think that's pretty evident, don't you?
Stick to watching glass jawed grapplers and run along back to sherdog with the rest of the closet case's.

When you grow up, and your interests change, you will understand, how I simply don't care for, or about MMA.
I don't care that you don't care either. Fair enough. You might be able to keep your blood pressure down if you don't click on this type of thread next time. Don't want your ticker to short out...

"Proven?!?!"
How do you demonstrate proof like this? That's like me saying that all boxers must be ******* because James Toney, who is like 78-6 lifetime in boxing has never been stopped, yet in his first MMA bout he taps due to strikes.
Where is this "time and time again proof"?Last edited by Fanofallsports; 08-29-2010, 06:01 PM.

We do not talk MMA on this forum. At all. I guess I have to repeat myself, but before the Toney fiasco, there may have been one MMA topic a week that garnered 10-12 posts, then withered away.
