Yes, I think boxing fans should be open minded enough to accept that there are elements in fighting that isnt covered in boxing. If you read the first couple lines you'd recognize that I delineated between boxing "fans" and boxing "douchebags" (as I had MMA "fans" and MMA "douchebags").
Boxing "fans" won't be offended by my post.
Boxing "douchebags" on the other hand won't even understand that post....which category do you fall into?Comment

Here's a suggestion: **** off back to sherdog with the rest of the closet ****sexuals!
You honestly think anybody on this forum values your opinion? You'll find out soon enough that you're out of your depth here, sunshine.
Your post failed the moment you refused to acknowledge the fact that James Toney is shot to bits. This wasn't a case of some boxer crossing over, this was a supposedly legitimate organization that heavily advertised and promoted a freak show,a mismatch of epic proportions to the masses.Pro wrestling type marketing that is fed to the dumb, ignorant hillbillies that watch and support MMGAY.
Truthfully, boxing fans couldn't give a **** about MMGAY and this whole childish, petty feud that was started by the insecure closet cases over on the MMGAY forums. To us,it's a hilarious topic that requires no legitimate discussions. If the topic comes up,we'll take the piss out of it,but that's as far as it will go.You certainly won't here any MMGAY comparison's made when discussion the sport of boxing. No 'who's the Brock Lesnar of boxing' threads posted in the main section.
It's not boxing that is trying to draw these old, washed up athletes from completely different sports, with absolutely no experience for record to speak of,and pitting them against some of it's best combatants.Such matchups would not even be sanctioned in the sport of boxing.
No grown man, with an ounce of dignity, would ever admit to enjoy watching two glass jawed grapplers rolling around in the middle of the cage.Such a ridiculous product can never be taken seriously as a mainstream sport.
Now, tuck ya tail between your legs and run along back to sherdog, you poof.

Boxing is just one of many tools for Couture. Thje best MMA fighters are well rounded, which means they can exploit whatever weakness the opponent has. If the opponent has good hands he might be kicking him or take him down.
Toney is a one dimensional fighter. All he has is very good hand, and a good MMA fighter will exploit that by taking the fight to an area were his opponent isnt comfortable.Comment

See...that's the strange thing I can never wrap my mind around. Why are there fans of one sport who get such emotionally negative feelings about another sport?!?!
MMA fans love a good striker. Its just that classic boxing styles do have to be adapted somewhat to MMA, and thus it might seem somewhat unrecognizable and thus considered "sloppy" to the studious boxing fan (not that there aren't sloppy strikers in MMA too, its just that there are also good strikers that don't necessarily have the same style as a boxer) Spacing/distance, stance, and angles of striking etc. all have to be adjusted somewhat...Comment

No, it has been proven time and time again that being only a boxer isnt enough if you want to succeed in MMA. You have to be well rounded. Any boxer without undersntanding of the groundgame or grappling will get his ass kicked in MMA. Yeah, it was a freak show, because Toney didnt have the ground skills. Here's a suggestion: **** off back to sherdog with the rest of the closet ****sexuals!

Where are you even getting this **** at. No one cares. Why don't you understand that? We don't get off on brawls, and street fights. We consider boxing a sport. Not a street fight with no rules. No one picked Toney to win on this forum. There were 2 or 3 guys maybe from the threads I read before the fight. A bunch other hoping he would, and knew he wouldn't including me.
It has nothing to do with respect. I simply don't care for BJJ, Wrestling, or even Kickboxing. I think kicking is for *****es, and rolling on the floor is not pleasing to watch to me, and definitely not as complicated to understand as you MMA fans make it out to be.
You simply don't understand how we think... Just look at it as we don't care.. Not even a little. Like someone else said. You don't see threads on NSB started comparing what boxer is most like Lesnar, like you would about multiple boxers on sherdog. If a thread pops up, which was rare before Toney decided to **** off like this, it got 10-12 posts max, then fell into the depths. I've viewed sherdog a few times, and it never fails. There are multiple boxing threads 10 pages deep. You guys have the obsession. Not us!
As far as viewing each sport as a street fight. Who would win.. Who knows. MMA is nothing like a street fight. The biggest gun, or most popular guy will always win that one. I'd rather be a master boxer personally. Some random mma guy, and random boxer go at it, do you really think the MMA guy will think take down first? I doubt it, and that spells disaster for him. That's a whole other argument that I will not get into.Comment
