so you are sayin that 140 was a better weight for hatton because he was fightin smaller men there. so why is it a problem that he fought floyd at 147?floyd is not really considered a naturall ww and is only a lil bigger than ricky and ricky was the one that caleed floyd out and wanted the fight.at the end of the day all sre sayin is hatton fights better at 140 because he is fightin smaller men there not that he performs better there becuase they wight makes him betterBut I'm talking about having advantages. If I were a boxer, I would try to go as low as possible in weight, so when I come in the ring, I'm bigger than my opponent. Hatton, as his best, is when he has THAT advantage over other 140's. Vs mayweather, he doesn't have that advantage, so he can't be considered at his best.
mayweather, I think, has been doing this for a long time. Picking guys who he has a youth and physical advantage over.Comment

Its a popular myth that PBF beat the better hatton. But that is all it is. A myth. If beating someone first is all it takes for it to be a better win. 100 years of boxing has to be revised.
So the person who beat Marvin hagler first is a better win than SRL's win over Marvin hagler?
Even though PBF beat hatton first by KO. Hatton has nearly been knocked out on a few other occasions, before PBF knocked him.
Hatton was fighting Pac at 140. He was in the shape of his life against Pac. He was trained by Senior. He said he was a better fighter having trained with Senior.
THe Hatton Pac beat was better than the Hatton PBF beat.Comment

Guys who voted Pacquiao, keep this FACT in mind: Ricky Hatton weighed in at 154 pounds on fight night vs both Mayweather and Pacquiao. Pacquiao beat him more impressively, Mayweather fought the undefeated version. No need to bring weight in this when Hatton weighed the same for both on fight night. Hatton even went on record saying he felt stronger at 147.
Anyways, can't take anything away from any win really. Because although Pacquiao fought the lesser Hatton, he made up for it by blowing him out in 2 rounds. Mayweather fought the confident, undefeated version, and blew him out in 10 rounds. They both did good imo.Comment

So Hatton with 1 loss is a better version than the Hatton with ZERO losses?
And he was NOT in the shape of his life. Floyd Sr. has trained him before, during the Malignaggi fight. So that is nothing new.
You fail.Comment

Hatton hydrating over 147 at 140 show the weight wont make him worse. The issues Floyd presented him with at 147 would not be different at 140lbs. Floyd would still possess a longer reach with quicker handspeed and superior infighting skills. Contrast pac at 147 would still be too quick with too much pop for hatton' s lack of defense. Its not the weight as much as its the fighters in this case. Hatton doesn't bully either Guy at 140 or 147. He loses to both either way. Mayweather fought the better Hatton who weighed about what he would in a 140lbs fight. Pac would have stopped that Hatton in under 10rnds though. But I'm talking about having advantages. Either none of you who picked against Floyd knows anything about boxing or you are biased as hell!!!
Take your pick!!!
Hatton fought only once at 147 prior to Floyd and he looked sluggish and didn't look good. So after that poor performance what did he do? Did he go on to pummel guys at 147? No he went back DOWN to 140 and continued fighting as he probably realized 147 is not right for him. Naturally, when you get the call to fight someone like Floyd, Hatton jumped on it. Unfortunately it was at 147 where Hatton did NOTHING SPECIAL at that weight. What were you all expecting to happen when he faced Floyd?
Hatton lived at 140. Hatton had NEVER lost at 140. Before the Pac fight Hatton even said that at 147 he could lose but not at 140 as that was his territory.
Just look at his record before picking your biased pick!Last edited by ADP02; 06-16-2010, 02:55 PM.Comment

certainly floyd - but its not like hatton had gotten much worse between then. hatton at any point in his career would have gotten knocked out early against pacquiao. however hatton DID have a much more significant weight advantage on pacquiao. pacquiao was moving up in weight, into hattons prime division. when hatton lost to floyd - he was moving to floyds division. i think this says a lot.
either way, i think both fights go down similar regardless what hatton weighed, and where he was in his career.
also must take into account that its not floyds style to knock people out so much any more. pacquiao on the other hand... self explanatoryComment

i'm not so sure because hatton never really tried to bully manny this is another reason the hatton that floyd fought was the better version because he was fightin how he had always fought where as in the fight with manny he wasn't as aggresive as he usually is and he always seem to keep a lil distance between him and mannyHatton hydrating over 147 at 140 show the weight wont make him worse.
