it has nothing to do with race, there is no such thing as a "great black hope".

haye got exposure bcuz of what he did in the ring, unifying the CW division and being an entertaining fighter. hes big cuz he has such a strong following in his native England, which consisits of mainly whites.

sam peter never got too much hype to begin with, he got what u would expect from someone who knocked ppl out the way he knocked out williams. and after the wlad fight he looked like a guy who would whupp wlad in a couple of years, except he didnt have the discipline to train hard and improve.

there have been plenty of hyped white HWs too, mesi, fields, fury etc. arreola is hispanic.

its about nationality and entertainment value, NOT RACE!

Muhammed Ali was the most hyped boxer in history, but yes, Cooney and Morrison were great white hopes to some people.

Tye Fields got on TV because he was promoted by Arum, being white or black had nothing to do with it. Only an idiot would believe he'd ever be heavyweight champion. I made a thread here prediction he'd lose to journeyman/fringe contender Monte Barrett a few days before it happened, here it is:

You must be dumb if you can't see that media writers and commentators like Kellerman, Raskin, Rosenthal, Atlas, Hershman and the author of this article about Quadrine Hill want a Black heavyweight champion.

Haye never unified the cruiserweight division, he ducked the IBF Champion at that time, Steve Cunningham.

Haye had only TWO wins in world title fights at cruiserweight:

                    1. against the glass-chinned, mediocre Enzo Maccarinelli who should never have been a title holder anyway,

                    2. against Mormeck, who was shot after his wars with O'Neil Bell. Mormeck was winning at one point, knocked Haye down, but Haye survived by deliberately hitting Mormeck with a vicious, illegal rabbit punch.

they all want a black heavyweight? no, they just want a legit american heavyweight.
i doubt race matters to someone like atlas who's training povetkin.
