i doubt race matters to someone like atlas who's training povetkin.
Atlas is only training Povetkin because he hates the Klitschkos and has dreams of dethroning Wladimir. He would prefer a African-American champion, if that choice were available.

Teddy used to hype Sam Peter. But since Sam lost to Vitali, Atlas now despises him.

can you quote any of them saying or alluding to them wanting a black american heavyweight champ?
      that sounds pretty ridiculous

As a spectator, I think it is hard to understand the concept of being an elite athlete. Besides the necessary physical attributes it takes a certain degree of skill and dedication. A majority of the American athletes with the elite physical attributes are dedicated to other sports because of the popularity and the money. In this day and age, a number of elite athletes dedicate their time and energy (at a very early age) to other pursuits instead of boxing.

In the 60's and the 70's, pro sports didn't offer the type of money they offer now so you see a huge exodus of elite athletes choosing other sports instead of boxing. Athletes such as Mayweather, Mosely, and RJJ are elite athletes but they were directed toward boxing because of their fathers were boxers. They had the advantage of learning the skill and technique at an early age.

          1. against the glass-chinned, mediocre Enzo Maccarinelli who should never have been a title holder anyway,

          2. against Mormeck, who was shot after his wars with O'Neil Bell. Mormeck was winning at one point, knocked Haye down, but Haye survived by deliberately hitting Mormeck with a vicious, illegal rabbit punch.
look man, give credit where credits due.

enzo mac is a mediocre fighter, we all know that. but mormeck was a great win. i picked mormeck to knock him out so when haye knocked him out i was very impressed. u dont have to be very impressed but u cant dismiss him completely, haye went to the champions backyard, rose of the canvas to knock him out. very impressive.

if a white fighter rose of the canvas you would praise him for his heart. like u did calzaghe and probably wlad against peter.

and u still havent proved me wrong. i said haye got exposure bcuz of entertainment value and nationality, getting dropped by mormeck helped his entertainment value. and being english he gets major support since they want another HW champion, just like any english HW does white, black, brown or yellow.

haye gets so much exposure cuz the division is so weak, 15 years ago nobody would pay much notice to him if he turned HW with the same credentials. but the division is weak and looking for anyone to bring it to life. my only point is its has nothing to do with race.

kevin johnson doesnt get alot of hype, malik scott gets none whatsoever. cuz they are not action fighters. haye is, so is arreola and adamek so they all get exposure even though they are all of diffrent races.

u being racist i know the color of a fighters skin is the first thing u think about. but the rest of us arent like that, u need to get that thru your head.

In my opinion, its not a black or a white thing. Its an American thing. The American media is beasting 2 have a great American heavyweight come take the division by storm. White or black.

the HW division is boring and weak. so if some no football playing jock wants to box so be it. eastern Europeans don't have allot of choices besides boxing and......well "****"! Tommy hearns was poor and uneducated he became very hungry! Americans can go to school get job, play a number of sports that don't include be a punching bag. just more bs for a dead divison. but i love to read all the posts about everyone getting booty hurt!!

We wouldn't even know the steriod Russian freaks.
The heavyweight division is full of afro americans,I can name you a lot.
                    They just sucks.
                    And are DOMINATED.

Of course afro american dominated this sport when it was only an american sport.

The guy looks like Jermaine Taylor doesnt he? Well, he might be a good athlete and a guy with will, but what about skill? Hes already 27 and has not much of an amateur background, but it it will be interesting to see how he does. I will follow this guy, its to early to judge him and some comments here are nothing but ****loads. Comments like this: He will never be anything, hes a joke ect. I think let him at least try it.
