If Pacquiao retired after his 130 run, but was older when he finished, that alone would put him in as one of the best boxers.

The weight class jumping is just icing on the cake.

Every resume has flaws, but right now he's def an ATG. I wouldn't say the GOAT though, not enough prime greats he has fought. Ali fought a few prime greats. Pacquiao fought 1 or 2 (Barrera, arguably Marquez)

its not merely an icing on the cake. its what makes his resume even greater considering that among the greats only armstrong and duran have done that before, but minus the lineals

Just wanted to add - GOAT discussion has always been A) very subjective and B) needing to have perspective. BennyST lays out what he thinks Pac (but could be replaced by any GOAT discussion eligible fighter) should do to get to certain positions in the GOAT list but here is the thing, everyone has different ideas of where any particular figher is right now and what he needs to do to move up in the list. Each and every fighter has different circumstances one of the biggest of which is standard of competition. What is more GOAT worthy - a dominant fighter in an era of diluted competition or a marginally better fighter in an era of many good fighters?

Pac cant do anything more than be the best of this time or era, which he is.
But because people are always like a broken record repeating themselves that boxers were better back in the day, well with that attitude of course Pac can never be the GOAT.

GOTT ie Greatest of this time perhaps. But for the simple reason olden day boxers are more revered no matter what, Pac cant be the best GOAT.

The thing is pac has fought prime boxers. The thing is Pac wasnt in his prime. They were top 10 p4p at the time, and i dont know where Pac was rated, but they were favourite against Pac. So historians will not use that against Pacman. Only PBF lovers would say Pac hasnt fought prime barreras, or Morales. If for example they were REALLY in their prime do you really think they would beat Pac at the level he is now? I doubt it.

So when history looks back at Pacs resume, it will read, Barrera, Morales, JMM twice, Hatton, DLH, Cotto. These are names you recognise automatically. PBF wouldnt be able to boast this.

It's almost as bad as claiming Floyd's the GOAT.
The big difference is Manny never ever claimed to be the GOAT, Floyd claims to be the GOAT. Manny is always humble and even said that he's just an ordinary guy. Only big diehard fans claims their favorite fight to be the greatest, and most *****s do claim Mayweather to be the GOAT.

                  Good post.
What haters try to cry about (like a broken record) is that manny fought past prime opponents .... when manny himself was pre-prime during the 130s.

Imagine the prime version of manny at the 140+ fighting at 130 against those prime barreras, morales, etc.

I let you be the judge on who wins on that.

Ray Robinson is the GOAT and there will never be anyone to take that throne ever. Boxing is a different sport nowadays with spoiled athletes. There is no way any fighter could have the career Robinson had nowadays.
