+1 Hit the nail on the head. He's got the fans, he's got the belt, you know freddie doesnt train for free. I'm sure he feels it's time to get the big money while its there.

The guy is 22, he already got KOed once. He needs to take it slow. Maidana is the wrong dude to fight atm. Yes it's a duck but give him a break, he's 22. Where were most boxers at 22? Away from any belt is the answer. Even Mayweather, a once in a lifetime kind of fighter only beat Chico at 23 and Khan is not Mayweather. The equivalent for Khan would be for him in a year's time go face an undefeated p4p fighter who has been knocking people out left and right. Still, Khan can do great, he's definitely the best prospect I've seen. I just hope his chin improves with age, Pacquiao's did and so did Hoya's (he was also KD early in his career and went to develop a good solid chin)

He should duck him since a fight between them right now wouldn't be that big. Later down the line it could be worth the risk. Maidana still needs to prove his worth. Look what happened with Prescott after he KO'd Khan. He started losing. All Maidana proved against Ortiz is he was a good puncher like Prescott did. If Maidana is any good, this fight will be demanded and the fight will be more anticipated leading to a bigger gate. I hate waiting to see this fight too but if I was Khan, I would duck. These guys put their health, career, and even their lives on the line every time they step into the ring. Its their right to make as much money for these bouts as they can, because their next fight might be their last fight. Any one that gets into the ring in front of millions of people is not a *****.

Khan can duck Maidana all he wants but he should NOT be allowed to keep the belt. Maidana has EARNED his shot at the title and fought better competition at 140 than Khan. To deprive Maidana of his shot would be a disrespect to all of the fighters who have to start from scratch with no promoters or managerial backing. And there are more of them than there are stars in this business. Most strive to become someone's MANDATORY because that is the only way they will ever get a shot. Its the only reason that Ortiz fought him.

LOL yeah he did, get your facts straight....He didnt wanna fight Paulie after Paulie fought Diaz, they went to Khans team for the fight and they didnt want it, it was effectively as a back up plan if the Diaz rematch did not happen...so they continued to pursue the rematch with Diaz

Anyway, Paulie really isn't that great. He got outclassed and destroyed against Hypejob Hatton and he'll end up losing badly to Khan. Paulie's great advantage is his speed, which won't be a problem when he faces someone like Khan. Add on the fact he doesn't have any pop to keep Khan away.

23 now, and if he wants to be a champion he has to fight the best, he was quick to jump into the Kotelnik fight at as you say '22' well he gotta defend it now..... wherther he is 22, 23, 20, 14 or 6.
