But lets look what happened recently, 2008 to present. Pac fights Marquez, and moves up a total of 3 weight class to challenge Diaz, ODLH, Hatton and Cotto. Mayweather goes into a phony retirement to avoid fighting the top fighters in his division in what is the best division of boxing, he then comes back to fight Marquez. Its clear who has done more recently and overall in their career.
If you respect both fighters how can you say his retirement was phony. He had hand problems all his life and developed some back problems as well down the stretch. He needed some time to heal his body... dude is in this game for forever... he just need a time to heal.
If you talk about 2008 and on of course Pacquiao has a better resume... Floyd ain't fought.
Before he went into retirement, he already fought Hatton and DLH... so he did the same like Pac. As he went up to WW he fought Mitchell and afterwards he fought Judah and Baldomir who where champions (like Diaz) as well. So I don't see why Pac-Man's resume should be better or at least say that he always fought the best. I give Pacquiao the benfit of a doubt of having a better resume BUT I don't give him that he always fought the best.
Diaz, no way the best 135. DLH at the time ain't fought as a WW for years and was not even the best or in the running of being the best at 154. Hatton came of a loss to Floyd at a time he was considered the best at 140. If he still was the best at the time Pac fought him??? Cotto was a real challenge and he flew through it with flying colours.
Again I'm not bashing Pacquiao... I'm just trying to give you some points so you can see what I see... of yourse you can say he moved up weight classes with every fight and it was impressive... and it is... I think that it is absolutely deserving that after Cotto he's considered an all-time great... but he ain't always fought the best since moving up... the same goes Floyd as well... but both ain't that much different.

It is just funny to me, I don't really care if the fight gets pushed back or not time after all is essential in building a superfight. I doubt either guy is going to lose or even really risk losing before this fight happeans so I doubt the fight gets scrapped.
It is just funny to see the double standards.Last edited by The Gambler1981; 12-02-2009, 06:50 PM.
