Pernell wasn't only better defensively...Pernell was the more accurate puncher, better counter puncher, better body attack and movement. When you go as far as to say that (In the bold), I question if you've even watched enough of Pernell Whitaker.
ive watched whitakers fight live, hell i've been watching boxing since thrilla in manila, no youtubes here. pernell is fun to watch, not exciting though. his defense is awesome, different from floyd's. his style of punching is diff from pac's, but both are precise and accurate, yet pac's are more powerful, endless and from more angles. it would be a tough fight, in an awkward sense, i could see pernell running more here. no one could hit the other too much but the power punches would dictate.

They cant accept that a true ATG like Pac is way above most of their so-called slick fighters.

The only comparison that u can put Pac with are Ali, Armstrong and Robinson.

Pernell's resume and achievements are crap compared to Pac.

And that's already saying a lot since a lot of people rate Pernell highly.

      Its just a simple fact.

Resume-wise, achievement-wise... Pac is many times better than Pernell.
I hate to ask you,but which slick fighters has Pacquiao fought?lol-like I have said before-if you are an objective fan of the sport instead of a fan of a fighter-you will see Manny's last 4 fights have been handmade and crafted for him by his camp. You don't have to believe me,but look at the evidence-
all 4 of his last fights are against left hand fighters who are fighting in an orthodox stance (except the horrid David Diaz-who is still left handed/ southpaw), they also are weight drained (Cotto hasnt been at that weight for 3 years,Oscar hasnt been at that weight for nearly 11 years, and tell me Ricky Hatton wasn't skeletal at the weigh in). They are also Marquee named fighters at the tail end or down-side of their careers being old, damaged or previously KO'd badly. His last 4 fights are also against people who employ a come forward style-they rush in and cannot adapt-not one of them.
The last time Manny has fought a right handed fighter,he should have lost against JMM-that was 5 fights ago! It seems like Manny's career is being safely guided and guarded.
To me,comparing Manny to Pernell is like comparing chalk to cheese.

Seriously-which "slick" fighter has Manny Pacquiao fought??? If you are going to say gtfoh-then back your attitude up.I suppose you must assume it to be circumstance that Manny's last 4 fights have a criteria,eh?
Too many Fighter fans here, not enough objective fans of the sport.

Maybe not in terms of skills, not many people are better than Whitaker when it comes down to that but in terms of accomplishment, Pacquiao is greater IMO.

bert sugar is the keeper of the atg list.....name a more qualified and credible person to rank someone, if you can?.....and he's not comparing pac's style to pernell's he's simply saying pac ranks higher and is more accomplished.....
